    3. Jeannie, I'm not sure who you are talking about. Is it the King of the Lombards you are talking about? Does he have male children? He could have descendents from female children. The source I found stated that it was not known if Charlamagne and Desiderata had children. Desidarius was a minor king. I still wonder if he was a Ramey. Don't feel bad about having someone correct your spelling. Did you see James Miller's message correcting my history mistake about Charlamagne? He's right, I goofed. But do I feel bad? Do I feel picked upon? Do I hate being corrected when I am wrong? Of course not. Also, would I tell James, in an act of revenge, that he spelled Emperor wrong. Of course not. I wouldn'd do a thing like that. Lois Arthur ----------ORIGINAL MESSAGE---------: : I ask this question on the midieval list once... but unfortionaly i was : using the spelling of "the Dr. Rhamey"..... should re sub and ask again : since I finally looked it up one day.... :) .. there was no son listed as : a descendant..... : besides I was quite subdued on that list.. it is one that will leave you : feeling rather stupid..... there is one man on it hat even corrects peoples : spelling... and not nicly.... he must be an asp... : : : -----Original Message----- : From: Lois Arthur [mailto:[email protected]] : Sent: Monday, October 19, 1998 10:35 AM : To: [email protected] : Subject: Re: [RAMEY-L] King of the Lombards : : : Jeannie, : I have been wondering the same thing, who was Marchioness de Busancy? She : was the great grandmother of the wife of our ancestor, George Remy. Does : that mean that his wife is the mother of his descendents? This would make : Marchioness de Busancy an ancestor as well. She must have been of royal : blood since she was referred to as Her Highness. I have been looking at this Remy Book I got : from : : Wilma and it mentions Didier, who lived around 1435 and was a descendent : of : : King Didier Rheims of the Lombards in 750. Many of us have the ancestor, : : Didlier Remy 1485-1556, the ancestor of Jacob Remy, the immigrant. Many : of : : us on the list come from this line. I did some research: King Didier was : : called Desidarius and had a daughter, not a sister as the book states, : : whose name was Desiderata. She was married to King Charlamagne, who : later : : became Emperor of Rome. He didn't like her and eventually sent her back : to : : daddy. This started the Lombard War that lasted eight years, ending with : : the defeat of Desidarius at Pavia, and he was sent into exile at a : : monastary at Liege. : : I wonder why Dr. Ramey, who compiled this book, thought this king was a : : Rheims/Remy. I can't find a surname for him. In those times, most : people : : didn't have surnames. Can anyone help me out on this one? Was King : : Desidarius a Remy, and if he was, was he of this Didlier to Jacob line? : : Marsil may have to give back that crown after all. : : : : Lois Arthur in Indiana : : [email protected] : : : : : :
