With the compliments of the CARLISLE MERCURY Page 5, 5 September 1931 Mrs. Elmira WHALEY HALL, 85 years old, died at her home near Headquarters Sunday night following a short illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Hall is survived by five children, J.L. HALL, Nicholas county; Mrs. W.H. HALL, Staunton, Va.,,; Rev. W.B. HALL, Millersburg; Mrs. James T. HALL, Nicholas county and Joseph E. HALL, Lexington; two brothers, James W. WHALEY and Thomas C. WHALEY, both of Paris; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Millersburg Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. George W. BOSWELL, assisted by Rev. H.S. DICKSON, pastor of the Millersburg Christian Church. Burial followed in the family lot in the Millersburg cemetery. Mrs. HALL's ancestors were of Revolutionary War stock. Her great-grandfather served under General Washington. Three of her uncles served in the War of 1812 under Richard M. JOHNSON, who was Vice President under Andrew Jackson. Her ancestors came to Bourbon county from Loudon county Va., in 1795 Page 5, The CARLISLE MERCURY, 12 Mar, 1942 HALL Jess L. HALL, 73, farmer, died at 4 o'clock Sunday morning this home near Sharpsburg, following a long illness. Surviving hi are his wife, Mrs. Laura Sanford SPENCER HALL, and a brother, Rev. W.B. HALL, pastor of the Millersburg Methodist church. Funeral services were conducted at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at the home, with the Rev. Mr. BRIELY, pastor of the Sharpsburg Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Millersburg cemetery. Pallbearers were Eugene, Clarence, and Claton JEWELL, William HENDERSON, John HAMM and Robert BURNS The CARLISLE MERCURY, page 5, 17 April 1932 HALL Mrs. Eva M. HALL, 46 years old, wife of John HALL, farmer, residing on the farm of T.H. BOTTS in the East Union section, died suddenly last Wednesday afternoon while enroute to her home from Carlisle. Mrs. HALL had spent the day in Carlisle and while enroute home with her husband became ill and was carried into the home of Gilbert TERRELL, where she died before a physician could be summoned. Death was pronounced due to apoplexy. Besides her husband Mrs. HALL is survived by one son, Raymond HALL; a sister, Mrs. W.H. HALL of Staunton, Va., and three brothers, Rev. W.B. HALL, of Millersburg; Jesse HALL, of Nicholas county, and Joe HALL, of Lexington. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the home of Will OWINGS in Carlisle, conducted by Rev. E.K. ARNOLD, pastor of the Carlisle Methodist church, and burial followed in the Millersburg cemetery.
