Hi All, I am new to the Ramey list and have been "lurking" for a week or so before posting my first query. It looks like I am not alone in my struggle to find my VERY elusive RAMEY kin! :-) I am seeking information and/or a family connection to the following: Eliza RAMEY, born abt 1811 in Virginia married Job B. DAVIS before 1829. They may have been married in Mt. Sterling, Montgomery Co., Kentucky as that is where their first child was born. They moved to Christian County, Illinois by about 1835. I suspect that Eliza RAMEY DAVIS was dead by 1860 as she is not listed in the census with husband, Job. They had the following children (these are the ones I know about, there may be more): John H., born 27 Aug 1829 in Mt. Sterling, KY Elizabeth, born abt 1835 in IL Amanda, born abt 1838 in IL William, born abt 1841 in IL Lucy, born abt 1844 in IL Emily, born abt 1848 in IL A family story that was written about my direct ancestor, John H. Davis (son of Eliza RAMEY) states that Eliza was from a "prominent Virginia family". I would sure appreciate it if folks would check their RAMEY research and see if my Eliza is there...I have been trying to find her parents for years!! Sincerely, Bonnie in Alaska
