    3. Hi Marsil: Thanks for your post. I do know of one Bettie Ramey confederate pension application from Texas. She was the wife of John Milton Ramey, George Williams son. Her application was number 33162. I have corresponded with her family on several occasions and her full name was Cora Elizabeth Harrington. I do not see another pension application on the index for a Bettie. I did stumble on a Martha J. Ramey application which shows husband Stephen Barton from Upshur County that I had not seen before and I have requested a copy today. With regards to when they came to Texas, my great aunt, who was the authority on all of this swears that it was 1859. I have been unable to locate them on any 1860 census at this time. I also have not located anything on his civil war history, which might pinpoint where he enlisted from. I do know that his brother William Francis enlisted in the spring of 1862 in Company I of the Texas 26th Calvery - B Debreys Regiment according to his pension application. In his application he indicates that he moved to Trinity, Trinity County, Texas in 1861. This would fit with the 1859 date, in which they came to neighboring Polk County. Since William Francis and George William supposedly came to Texas together, I think that my great aunt was right in her 1859 date. Thanks for your input and help. I hope you will look at the pension application you have and see if its the Bettie - John Milton Ramey's wife or if its another one. If it is indeed another one, I sure would appreciate your sending me the file number so that I can request it from the state. By the way, I get grumpy at lunch time as well. Thanks again. 3. Well Tom, One thing I have learned with genealogy-all things are possible. At this point I feel that the pension application did state she was the wife of George W. but then again I haven't dug it up yet either. This is of course of no value, my sister lives very near Trinity. She goes over there to look for antiques often. She stopped in the Ramey Antique store. They discussed genealogy for a bit-the Rameys at the store said their Rameys came from SC. Just another rod in the fire- Peope do get their memories confused with other stuff sometimes. I know I do,. I'll start digging. My gracious, you ask a lot of a poor old gal.
