    3. Hi, It was sent to REMY-l-request. I'm the listowner. I picked it up when I realized that there were two lists (Ramey and Remy) talking about the same family (I descend from Rachel Remy Lemaster and I'm also reasearching Owen Rameys). Remy rarely gets posts but when they do I like to make sure to share with some on the Ramey list. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jeannie Blake-Dalrymple <maxsmammaw@yahoo.com> To: <RAMEY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2000 2:42 PM Subject: Re: [RAMEY-L] Fw: Famille REMY Hello Laura, just curious to know how you rec'd this e-nmail that was sent to "request" Jeannie <>< --- Laura McKenzie <laurabrownmckenzie@worldnet.att.net> wrote: > I have his gedcom that came attached by the way. > I'll be glad > to send it on to anyone interested. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Hans Remy <remy@skynet.be> > To: <remy-l-request@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, February 20, 2000 9:59 AM > Subject: Famille REMY > > > > Cher monsieur REMY, > > C'est sur Internet que j'ai trouvé votre nom et > adresse E-mail. > En annexe je vous envoie un file GEDCOM de mon > fichier. > Mon arrière grand - père était originaire de Silly > sur Nied > (près de Metz). 3. Hi Marsil: I've had several replies to my inquiry. I have not been able to find Lawrence on the 1860 or 1870 census. Any of you that are interested in Lawrence, might check out the Handbook of Texas Online which has an interesting write up on Lawrence. After getting to the site do a search on Lawrence Ramey. The Kincen Holliman that is referred to in the article is from Mississippi which would help with the line which stayed in MS before coming to Texas. Lawrence is also listed on another site as being at the Battle of SanJacinto. The url is http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/ -----Original Message----- From: Marsil Creech <MARCREECH@Prodigy.Net> To: RAMEY-L@rootsweb.com <RAMEY-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Saturday, July 01, 2000 2:32 PM Subject: Re: [RAMEY-L] Lawrence Ramey in Texas >Hi Tom, > That b. 3. Hi Tom, That b. NY on Lawrence Ramey has bugged me too. Could it be that it was a mistake. Clearly, Lawrence is living in a boarding house. Either a mistake or it is a totally different Lawrence Ramey. I do know that eventually some of the Reamy line did go to NYC but it was much later. To help our theory that this Lawrence is ours-the Stephen F. Austin Colony did recruit in the Westmoreland and Richmond Co VA area. Since I have been burned once by paying someone to check out the records in the State LIbrary at Austin, I would hate to do it again. However, I think that might be the best bet to find out anymore about this Lawrence. I have been told that some of those Stephen F. Austin applications (or whatever they are called) are in English a nd some in Spanish. Either way, would be a good source of info for us. I did not find Lawrence in the 1860 census records. Have you? 2. Tom Ramey
    3. In the continued pursuit of my George W and William Neale Ramey, I have come across some information that I hope some of you know something about. Lawrence was supposedly William Neales brother and son of Alexander and Elizabeth and clearly came to Texas as part of Austin's colony in 1827 and fought with Sam Houston in the infamous battle of San Jacinto. The curious thing about Lawrence is that on the 1850 Texas (Matagorda County) census, he is recorded as 49 and his birth place is listed as New York. Does anyone have any idea as to where New York comes into play with the Asbury, Alexander line? Tom Ramey
