Sue, I just checked my files and I find that Jacob Jr Remy had a son Benjamin b. 1705. Could this be who you are talking about. He married an Ann Sanford I believe. Hi Sue, You are telling me something I didn't know. All I've ever known was the fact that Jacques Remy had two sons, Jacob Jr and William. I don't doubt your word but where did you find that he had a son Benjamin? I have searched the Westmoreland records pretty thoroughly and found no Benj. Maybe we have a whole new twist on the Remys. I don't know anything about Jacob's brothers. Supposedly the 2nd Remy to come to America was Abraham Remi who came 1700 and settled in Manakin, the Huguenot Village near Richmond VA and he was supposed to be a nephew, I believe. All other Remys came at a later date Laura Miller wrote: > Do we know anything about Jacob's brothers who were supposed to have > gone to other countries before they got to America? Good find Millie, Just who is this Richard? Where did he go? Now wouldn't it be something if we had to change some lineages. Marsil in NM
Found something to think about. From Deeds and Patents of Westmoreland co VA 1665-1677, Part Four, Page 325: Rights Granted. Isaac Cote, Wm Hill, Ann (?)iney, Geo Parrey, Henery Patte, Joh Deasce, Richard Ramey, Rice Williams, Robert Williams, Richard Cole, James Horner, Jone Horner, Jone Garry. 20 Aug 1677 Recorded. Since Jacob Remy (1630-1721) was the first Remy to America (according to the Remy Book) and had two sons, William and Jacob Jr, where did this Richard of that era come from.? Any clues from you researchers? Mildred
Marcil - As a followup to our emails earlier, I noted that in Dr. Rhamey's book, he has a reference that supports Asbury's wife being Hannah Elizabeth Neale and not Hannah Rodam Neale - "Westmoreland Co., Va. order book 1776, p.367; "Elizabeth Ramey, widow of Asbury Ramey vs. George Sanders in 1786 to pay debt."" tom ramey
Thanks Tom,. That is definitely helpful. Guess I need to order that record.
