    1. [RAMEY-L] Origins of Ramey Name
    2. Lois Arthur
    3. Hello, Does anyone have the origin of the name Ramey? One researcher told me that the name goes back to ancient Egypt. I would like to know about this, if possible. I was thinking, Ramey The Great? Valley of the Rameys? Is the head on the Sphinx actually the image of an ancient Ramey? Does the Curse of King Tut's Tomb apply to Rameys as well? Was Queen Cleopatra actually bitten by a Ramey? There are all kinds of possibilities here. Some people think that the Ancient Egyptians were actually from the stars. Was the first Ramey a space man? Did he go where no Ramey has ever gone before? If Black Holes are so powerful that they can bend light, can they bend Rameys too? Help me here, I'm getting carried away. Can anyone tell me the origins of the name? Thanks, Lois Arthur, [email protected]

This is my direct line of decent. See if you can figure this one out. The material comes from LDS records: William Remy was born 1745 and died 1816 at the age of 71. He married Catherine Asbury in March 1693, 52 years before he was born. Catherine was born 1672 and died 1738 at the age of 66, which would have made her 73 years older than he. WOW. 1. Re: [RAMEY-L] Re: Whaley Obits
    2. Why should I have to delete all those Whaley obits? I understand there is a Whaley listing--and it would seem that all those Ky Whaley obits could be properly shared with that primary listing. Quite frankly, I don't care a fig about reading the constant stream of Ky Whaley obits. Please, Madam Listowner, can't you possibly control what appears to be an "out of control" feeding of voluminous Whaley obits. I keep thinking that by now all of the dead Ky Whaleys surely have been posted to the Ramey list--but just like that Energizer Bunny--they just keep on coming. Cannot we leave the Ky Whaleys to RIP?? (Preferrably on the Whaley roots listing) With lotions of love, William Ramey, Indiana

    1. [RAMEY-L] Asburys and Rameys?
    2. Shari
    3. Hi all, It's been (finally) raining in Texas after what seems like a thousand days of syrupy heat and I am motivated to make an interlibrary loan/FHC/etc "to do" list of research activities I intend to do as soon as I empty my ever-bloated inbox, but that is another story. :) Anyway, I was cleaning up my GEDCOM and looking at those lines which have been tacked on based on "friend of a friend's gedcom" sources - i.e. lines I care about but probably won't actually go nuts over for a long time. One such line for me is the Asburys, in this case Catherine ASBURY who married William REMY. I have noticed "Asbury" taken as a first or middle name for many eastern Kentucky families that were allied with the Rameys. I don't have a marriage date for Catherine but have her as 1672-1738 with parents Henry ASBURY and Mary DURRANT. Then Henry's parents as Francis and Mary?. The line seems to go from Westmoreland VA (Catherine) to Kent MD (Francis). At the risk of sounding really lazy (which is true, I am very lazy about this line at the moment), can anyone tell me/us more about the relationship between the Asburys and Remys? Was it limited to Catherine and William or was there more intermarriage? Does anyone have a date/place/source for their marriage? I'd appreciate any info. :) Thanks, Shari [email protected]

    3. I have started to put a few in my data base... won't live long enough to get them all in........ I have been trimming the excess paper from around them and putting them (as many as I can) on one page front and back.....and into a notebook... will send it to KY for the library there in Frankfort and the one in Carlisle when I am done.....will of course make a copy for me and for the young man who collected them all...... He ask me if I would like a few Whaley obits.... I said sure..... :( ... I had taken my Ramey (you know the one:)) to KY so that he could copy what he needed from it... and I guess that he felt that he should help out... so it wasn't long after I arrived home that I had this huge package arrive.... :).... Am truly delighted to have them and to be able to get them out to others... there is just many hours of research here... and it is free for he taking.... You would be surprised at how many flames I have rec'd over them.... OH well! :) Have a great weekend...
