I am spending alot of time checking e-mail during research to find only personal conversation, and frankly it is quite frustrating. Why not try connecting to ICQ or some other "real talk"groups.
Hello, I am searching for the parents of William (P. or R.) Ramey, b. 8 Dec. 1799 Va., d. 18 Oct. 1853, Johnson Co., Illinois, buried Holt Cemetery, Johnson Co., Ill. (all data taken from stone at Holt Cemetery) m. (1) Margaret Hutchison abt. 1822/1823, m. (2) Elizabeth Grimes. Any help on this family would be very much appreciated. Thank You !! Sue Feild
Can anyone tell me the parents of the following Moses Ramey? And, if you can will you tell me who they are? If you will. I may even find time to tell my own stories. Unfortunately, you don't know if my stories are any good. You will just have to take a chance MOSES RAMEY, b., abt 1786 in Russell Co., VA, b. March 1846 in Pike Co., KY, m. Tabitha ??, b. 1800 in VA. (Their Children) 1. Matthew Ramey, m. Charity Bentley on 27 Aug 1837 in Pike Co., KY 2. Daniel Ramey? 3. Pricey Ramey, m. James Owens on 27 March 1842 in Pike Co., KY 4. Elizabeth Ramey, m. John Potter on 16 July 1846 in Pike Co., KY (Child=Richard) 5. Amanda Ramey, b. 1820, d. 16 Feb 1876, m. Andrew Owens-16 MAr1837/Pike 6. Christina "Crissie" Ramey, b. 9 Nov. 1826 in KY, d. April 1872 in Island Creek, Pike Co., KY, m. Wm. H. Sword, Sr. on 25 March 1841 in Island Creek, Pike Co., KY. 7. Marinda Ramey, b. 1827, m. Daniel Bentley on 25 Jul 1843 in Pike Co., KY 8 Polly Ramey, b. 1830 KY, m. Wm. Cook on 12 Jul 1846 in Pike Co., KY 9 Frances, b. 1832, Geo. W. I find the stories and trains of thought actually very funny and entertaining. Unfortunately, each time one of these insider conversations is posted to the Ramey mail list - I stop what I am doing, and check my mail (I do not want to miss any genealogy information), then I delete the message. It only took me 30 sec. - but when you add them up and include the disruption factor, well . . . . You may not want to this - but, you could use a separate (non-list) group mailing for these types of communications. This way you still get to talk to each other. I submit this not as your King Tut - but, as a fellow researcher. Jim
Shame on all of you non-serious Reamy/Ramey descendants of the evolved group. I, myself, am quite serious. As I climb down from my tree each morning, I say to myself, "Self, you have serious work to do today." Then as I make my way over the the pyramid in a very serious manner, Self tries to tempt me into becoming a non-serious self. As you can see, it does not work. The King Tut descendants among us will surely agree that being serious is the best motto for the Reamy/Ramey descendants. The agreement most likely reads along these lines:Take thy self seriously for others may not. You know, somedays it doesn't pay to gnaw thru the straps. ____ Marsil in the Land of UFO's, Aliens, and weather balloons.

Hi everyone, I posted this a while back, but have not gotten a response. The fella with Ramey's in McLean Co. IL never wrote me back. His loss, I suppose. I do have the info about this family from The Remy Family, but it seems to be wrong. Here goes with crossed fingers: I am looking for anyone anywhere who might be related to W.A. Ramey :-) My great grandfather, William Abbott Ramey was supposed to have been born in Bloomington, McLean County, IL on 15 Oct 1874. Soon after his parents died, he lived with a family named HOLT, allegedly near Hope, AR. He and his brother, John Henry RAMEY are said to have gone to Kansas to live with their grandmother, Sarah Ann RAY. I cannot prove a bit of that !!! Nor can I find their parents, who are supposed to be Pete RAMEY and Phoebe ABBOTT. I do know that W.A. lived in Madison Co., and Sebastian Co. AR. W.A. RAMEY and Ellen (Dolly) JOHNSON were married in Huntsville, Madison Co., AR ca. 1895. They had 15 children. W.A. and Dolly divorced and remarried a few times after their last child was born in 1927. They were not married on 10 Dec 1941 when W.A. died in Huntington, Sebastian Co., AR (in his brother's home). W.A. was buried in an unmarked and unrecorded (according to the oh-so-helpful staff) grave in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Fort Smith, Sebastian County, AR. I have no hard info about his brother, parents, or grandparents. The children of W.A. RAMEY and Dolly JOHNSON : Albert Monroe 1896 Sadie Mae 1897 John WIlliam 1898 Arthur Lee 1900 Mary Ethel 1901 Clyde Elmer 1902 Susie Ellen 1904 Flora Elsie 1906 Joseph Earl 1907 James Ernest 1907 Mable Gertrude 1911 Everett Estel 1913 Eula Florence 1915 Beula 1916 Thelma 1917 Reba Livita 1921 Freddie Eugene 1927 I will be glad to share any info with anyone. I would appreciate any help that you might give. Thanks, J.D. Martin
Good morning all...... I rec'd this, this am from a fellow researcher........perhaps, just perhaps...... one of them is your kin.........Kathy, perhaps this Hinman is yours :) jeannie <>< While going through the book "Vital Records from the Eastport Sentinal of Eastport, Maine 1818-1900" I ran across the following marriage and death notices, hope you enjoy them - Ken >From the Eastport Sentinel (Eastport, Washington, Maine) Vol. 1 #42, 12 Jun 1819. Marriages; In Perry, NY, no date, Lyman Hinman age 20 to Jennet Stevens, age 60, after a long and serious courtship of two days. Deaths; In London, no date, Patrick Rofer (Ropey, no doubt), he had long indulged in habits of excessive drunkenness, so that his fame became saturated with alcohol. Just prior to going to bed to his wife, and while in the act of blowing out his taper, his breath took fire, which communicated to his lungs, and his limbs were scattered about the room: his head was driven thro' the wall and broke the leg of a man in the room above. Vol. 2 #2, 04 Sep 1819 Marriages; In Bozrah, CT, no date, John Bate of Williamstown, MA to Mary Ann Bass of Bozrah, after a courtship of one hour. "Is this not angling well I ask, Such tender fish to take-He caught in one short hour a Bass, The Bass caught the Bate. Vol. 2 #46, 08 Jul 1820 Marriages; In Boothbay, no date, Robert Reed 4th, cousin to Robert Reed 5th, no relation to Robert Reed 6th, s/o Robert Reed 1st, but no relationship to Robert Reed 2nd, to Alice Reed, d/o Robert Reed 3rd. Vol. 2 #50, 05 Aug 1820 Deaths; In Mt. Pleasent, NS, no date, at Mt. Pleasent, Mr.Sypher. He got into a whiskey distillery in the night and drank till he killed himself and thus become less than a cypher.
Jim, I have read your comments about the Ramey Weird Research web site. I originally signed on the the Ramey Roots web site in order to try to obtain additional info about my Ramey family's background. It seems that day after day the e-mails emanating from the Ramey site seem to multiply. After thinking about this, I went to my PC's Personal File Cabinet to check just how many e-mails I may have received as a result of being tuned into the Ramey Roots site. My rough count indicates that since 8/1/98 I have received a total of 218 e-mails from this one site. Probably half of these messages are of a personal nature amongst perhaps a half dozen Ramey kinfolk. The web site reminds of me the old days where one might be on a telephone partyline and along with me and the central telephone operator, I could also be on line with up to ten other individuals. So I presently consider the Ramey Roots web site to be an updated version of my old telephone partyline. I reckon the Rameys have been scammed (Bob Wright?) and spammed (You know who you are) and now slammed by me and a few others. Serious research or cute comments or casual communications--they may all be here--just a matter of wading through all of the Ramey verbiage. So along with research one may also obtain some personal chatter and a dose of Ramey warmth. As TV has an Off button--this web site has an Unsubscribe button. The really great thing about the internet is that it does afford us all to either be in touch or to lurk. Did I ever tell you the one about my Uncle Lurk Ramey? With kindest of thoughts, William Ramey, IN
