    3. Hi Nefi, Personally I think that he was married to the Marmaduke female.... it is all up for grabs so to speak.... Everyone seems to have a different slant on this....... need to really devote some serious research time here.......need to be in VA to do it too.... 2. The surname of Jacob Remy's wife is unknown. The name Miles arises from another error in the Remy book, and most likely came from the author's (B. W. Rhamy) misreading of the will of Miles Marmaduke. Marmaduke named Jacob Remy as a trustee in his will; he was not named as a son-in-law. Marmaduke named only one child in his will, a son. Spencer mentions Jacob Remy in his will, but only in the context of saying he bought land from him. Spencer does not mention a daughter with the surname Remy in his will which was probated in 1700. Spencer died in 1689, i.e., well after the marriage of Jacob and Mary Remy. All that is known about the name of Jacob Remy's wife is that it was Mary, and this is from his will. I also doubt if Jacob was married prior to marrying Mary. The Remy book (page 45) says that the Fra. Rame who was a headright of John Drayton was Frances, and that she was Jacob's first wife. But Rhamy does not offer any proof of this!!! In fact, Fra. is probably a Francis. Rick Ramey

    3. Nefi, Been thinking about it-can;'t find my copy. Think perhaps it simply says" Mr. Ramey came by today." The Jacob may be wrong. Even if it does mention Jacob, still gives us lots of room to play around. Lots of Jacobs around about that time. No, of course, good old George would not have insulted an ancestor of ours. Just sent him to Valley Forge for the winter. Actually some of the Rameys were given bounty land in KY. Several thousand acres, I believe. 3. Hi Wilma I definitely want a copy of the Ramey book. Please have Office Max proceed with mine. I will either come to Salyersville and get it (I think I met you at the Jenkins Family Reunion last year), or I will send a check for what the cost and postage is. Please let me know how you want to handle this, but I definitely want a copy of the book. My mother is Eli Ramey's daughter; Eli's parents were John M. and Mary Mariah Daniel Ramey; John's parents were Joshua and Nancy Wheeler Ramey. I know of the William Remy error, and I am sure there are others. I have seen the book a couple times, and have copied pages from it. Mr. Phil Thuma in Ironton, Oh has his sister's copy of the book. Thanks so much for taking time to look into getting the book. 3. O.K., all you Ramey descendents out there, listen up! I have some serious stuff here. No Ancient Egypt or anything like that. Sure would hate to take up the valuable time of that college kid out there. Here goes: John Ramey 1753-1834 who married Edith Browning, fought in the Revolutionary War in the Battle of White Plains. This battle was fought in 1776 near White Plains, New York. American General, George Washington, lead a force against British troops under Sir William Howe. Washington had lost New York City to the Brisish late that summer and withdrew to White Plains. Howe launched strong frontal and flank attacks and captured Chatterton Hill after severe fighting. Howe decided to wait for reinforcements before pressing his advantage. His hesitation, however, allowed Washington to withdraw across the Hudson River to New Jersey and save his army from destruction. In other words, he ran like mad. If he had stayed and lost the battle, which he probably would have, John Ramey might have been killed. As a result, those of us who are his descendents, would never have been born.
