Hi Susan, Just a short note. Green Rainwater was a son of Jesse and Mary (Maadora( Rainwater from Washington Co, Ala. Jesse and his brother moved to Ala while it was still Ms Territory.(bef 1817) from Chesterfield Co.,SC. They had land grants there in 1800. Jesse says he was bn NC. I'm finding so many older Rainwater's bn NC I'm beginning to wonder. I know what you mean about some of these names. Maybe they ran out of ideas to name them, so they named them whatever popped in their heads. What is your husbands line?Maybe I have something on it. Glidie
