There have a few e-mails to the Rainwater list making political comments, complaining about political comments, and then apologizing about political comments. The complaining and apologizing are about as out of place as the original comments. I give everyone one (1) mistake in this area ... one! No cats with nine lives on this subject. Most of the subscribers have come over from a long- running private communication list. Before that private list was converted to the automatic system Rootsweb provides, there was concern about messages consisting of subjects other than genealogy being posted to the automatic list. So you see, the majority of the concern came from the old-list subscribers who had had their share of Christmas greetings, forwarded jokes, arguments, etc. So this ruling is the desire of the majority. I probably will need to post this warning off and on for the benefit of new subscribers. I'm not trying to be a hard nose, to threaten or embarrass anyone, however the strict rule on this list is genealogy-related subjects. We are all friends here, and all business - the business of genealogy. On a more pleasant subject, there are several who have massive data files on the history of certain Rainwater clans. There has been a private suggestion made to me by a subscriber --- He will foot the cost of a good new, writeable CD drive. He has offered to combine all our various individual family files into one comprehensive CD, then it to be made available at cost, somewhere about $6 or 7 including the shipping. Your comments and ideas are requested concerning this suggestion. Please post them to the general list for discussion. Thank you again for your continued support.
