Hi Mary Ann, Sorry to be so late but I've had a flare-up of my Lupus and I've been real sick for 3 days.Not feeling to good today-but too many things to do. My line of Rainwater was William Rainwater who married Elizabeth Lucas on 2 Nov 1823 in Marengo Co.,Ala. They had 3 sons-Richard, John R. and Elkaney L. I'm descended from John R. I have information on all 3, though. Hopefully, I'll eventually find someone doing research on my line. I've been doing research close to 45 years now and have accumulated quite a bit of Rainwater data, trying to sort out families. I'm slowly building a data base on my computer so that I can pull them up when I need them. Now-Pinkney Ferron Rainwater was bn 16 Oct 1811 in Anderson Co.,SC. He md abt 1833 to Sarah A.Eskew, daughter of Richardson Eskew and Elizabeth Middleton.Pinkney served in Co C 42 Reg't Ga Vol Inf in the "Milton Tigers" and was assigned the job of pastmaster of Reg't. He was discharged 4 Nov 1862 due to "chronic rheumatism". He died Apr 1865 due to complications of sickness incurred in CW. Their children; 1-Martha C.-bn 1834 in Roswell,Cobb,Ga-md 21 May 1851(Bk B-pg197-Milton Co.,Ga) to Daniel P.Major son of James and Clarinda (Phillips) Major (daughter of Rev Richard Phillips and Delilah Rainwater).Daniel was bn 8 Dec 1826 and died 9 Jun 1898.They had 5 known children 2-James A. Rainwater-bn 1837 in Marietta,Fulton,Ga-md 14 Dec 1859 in Yalubusha Co.,Ms(Bk C pg 99)to Marguerite Tinnin(daughter of James Tinnin, formerly of Tn who was a rich planter and large slave owner)He died 1889 in Ark. He served during the CW in Co E 29 Ms Inf. Reg't.They lived in Panola Co.,Ms, and James was a "corn" schoolteacher. They had 6 children. 3-Louisa J.-bn 1839 md Thomas K. McDonald, moved to Tx. had 9 children. 4-Miriam Elizabeth was bn 26 Mar 1843 in Milton Co.,Ga. She md 29 Dec 1857 to Joel Rucker, son of Simeon Bluford Rucker and Jane Barnwell.She died 20 Apr 1913 and he died 18 Jul 1889. They had 4 children (some info from "The Rucker Family Genealogy-pg192 compiled by Mrs. Sudie (Rucker) Wood.) 5-Virgil Cicero was bn abt 1845.He was in the CW in Co E 22 Ga Inf. He md 14 Jan 1866 to Mary F ?. He died 24 May 1903 in Nebo,Smith,Tx They had 2 known children.(CW pension application #22066 Tx (GS#0963950) 6-Lemuel Fowler was bn 2 Apr 1848 in Stone Mountain, DeKalb,Ga. md 6 Jan 1876 to Laura S.Jones,daughter of James S.Jones ,sherrif of Panola Co.,Ms.They lived in Sardis,Panola,Ms. He was only 15 when the CW broke out and he enlisted.He was in Co E 27th Ga Batt.He trained as a lawyer in the office of Gen.Edward Walthall and was admitted to practice in 1874.He served 2 terms as Mayor of Sardis and he also served as State Senator from 1896-1900. He was elected to the State Senate again in 1923. He died 27 Jul 1933. They had 6 children. He md his cousin Sarah E.Rainwater (daughter of John Milton and Aleezer R)on 25 Dec 1884 in Milton Co.,Ga.(Bk B-pg 197) He died before 1897.They had 2 children 11-Caroline Eunice-bn Feb 1866-unmarried in 1897 11-Lula unmarried in 1897- Some of this information is taken from the estate settlement of Pinkney's Uncle David Tillotson Rainwater. He died 27 Jan 1866 in Anderson Co.,SC leaving his wife Violet Smith a life estate, so his estate couldn't be settled until she died. She died 9 Jan 1897. They had no children.
