The reason I say "iffy" is because the Burwell Perry e-mail group I'm part of (along with Leila Mayberry) have not been able to prove that Mary Ann Rainwater was married to Burwell Perry beyond "family lore". Mark Washington Dikes 20 Oct 1843, Washington Co TX (Dianna is my gg grandmother) When Burwell Perry entered TX in abt 1829 as a part of the Stephen F. Austin group, he listed his wife as Jane, and we have found futher reference to Jane as Jane Botts; however, we found their marriage on 5 Jan 1838 in Washington Co TX. Further a Mary Ann Perry was listed in the MeGehee household in Hancock Co MS in 1850, so we don't know if that Mary Ann is Mary Ann Rainwater Perry (mother to Rebecca Perry MeGehee) or a Perry relative, and that she didn't go to TX with Burwell and he took Jane and later married her.
