Bob,Subj: More too many Jamess Date: 99-02-05 18:00:17 EST From: SaZaBY To: [RAINWATER-L]@rootsweb.com Lets make this even more complicated and remember that we had another preacher, James E. Rainwater, son of Levi Rainwater, who came to Milton Country and/or Cherokee Co, probably with brother Gabriel in late 1830's. Milton Co is the north head of Fulton Country (Atlanta) and went bankrupt in 1931 as did Campbell Co which forms the butt bottom of Fulton and as we have noted was the residence of the other two James. James E. and Gabriel settled a deed on some land in IL in 1856 after the death of Levi along with bro-in- laws Letty Low and Daniel Pettit. Milton was created in 1857. Remember that Job Rainwater was also in this same area and is the father of one of the other James R's. He was a very active pastor in the Cherokee/Cobb County area for many Baptist Churches. I have gone to the Mercer University library in Macon , GA and gone thru some of the old Baptist Association Records and James E. and Job were very active together in many of these churches, however they were cousins many time removed, since Job descended thru James, son of old John while James E. and Gabriel decended from Levi thru the two John Jr, that came to Spartanburg Co, one born in 1734 and Levis father born in 1752. That is what perplexes me is that all these cats were running around and using only the names John and James(not to mention Miles). Old Gabriel had been lost til I resurrected him. Don Pruitt Hope this got thru, I am getting senile
