    1. Re: [RAINWATER-L] Rainwater gleanings
    2. I have a letter written by the son grandson of Garbiel Rainwater in about 1940 that his g-gf LEVI RAINWATER migrated to TN between the War of 1812 and 1830 while his two sons and daughters went from Spartanburg Co to the newly opened Cherokee lands west of the Chattahoochee River in GA after 1832. Gabriel and James E. RAINWATER (another of the preachers Jamess) are in Cherokee Co. After Levi's death in 1855, they sell a 40 acre tract of land in Roseville, Illinois that Levi had received as a bounty for service in War of 1812. This land sale is transacted in Cherokee Co, GA and sale is to residence of Spartanburg Co, SC. The heirs of Levi are listed as: James E. Rainwater Gabriel Rainwater Letty Low (snl) Daniel Pettit (snl) Do not know what happened ot James E. but Gabriel and wife Nancy Toney Rainwater migrate with two daus to Blount Co., AL after Civil War, probably in early 1870's and Gabriel and Nancy are buried near Blountville, AL.
