Hello John, Sorry I've been so long catching this-but better late, than never. First- Solomon was never !!! named John Solomon. Solomon and Ruth Felton had 11 children-not 16. The Ruth you mention as a child (I assume you got this from the land records in Anderson Co.,SC?) is actually Ruth signing her "dower rights" in the land Solomon left-when all the kids sold out to Job. I believe Ascenath was Solomon's sister, not his daughter. Ruth and Solomon's children are as follows: 1- Job-bn ca 1780-md Didama Hembree,daughter of Rev James Hembree and his wife Ascenith Gentry. md ca 1800/05 and died abt 1863 in Milton Co.,Ga.They had 11 children. 2-John Rainwater-bn ca 1781-md Martha Adams and died 22 July 1836 in Greene Co.,Ga.They had 11 children. Martha died in Brenham,Wn,Tx at the age of 89.Martha was the daughter of Richard Adams of Spartanburg Dist.Several of her children migrated to Tx and helped settle the area. 3-Delilah (Dilly)-bn 4 Oct 1785-md bef 1805 to Richard Phillips who became a preacher. She died 2 Sep 1865 in Cuming,Forsyth,Ga.They had 8 children. 4-Rebecca-bn 20 Ocr 1786-md Aaron Oliphant (he died 15 Oct 1826).Rebecca died 17 Jan 1863 in Brenham,Wn,Tx. 5-Laodicea (Dicy)-bn ca 1788(age 65 on 1860 census Forsyth Co.,Ga) GS# 0803121-pg 497 fam 916. Never married. She died 23 Jul 1867. 6-Solomon,Jr-bn 1 Jan 1790-md 8 Dec 1825 to Nancy Linn, daughter of John Linn and Viney Ivey.Solomon died 11 Oct 1856 and Nancy died 14 Apr 1858-Their 2 youngest sons Harras (Horace) age 10 and Virgil-age 13 were in the household of Henry Smith as their guardian, on the 1860 census. GS# 0803126-pg 291 fam 702. 7-Joshua-bn 1792-md 10 Feb 1820 to Mary "Polly" Peterson He died 15 Aug 1878 in Hico,Hamilton,Tx 8-Rhoda-bn ca 1794-md before 1821 to Lasten Cox. (nothing more known) 9-Abner- bn ca 1799-md 2 Nov 1826 to Elizabeth Henry. He died 18 Sep 1872. 10-Rachel-bn ca 1803 (age 47-1850) living with Richard and Delilah Phillips in Forsyth Co.,Ga on 1850 census. On the 1860 she's age 57 and living next door with Dicy(child # 5) Neither one ever married. 11- Elisha Gentry-bn ca 1807-md 2 Nov 1826 in Warren (Upson) Co.,Ga.to Elizabeth Grant.Elizabeth died 26 May 1849 and Elisha md 2nd Nancy "DoneyMensy" Sturdevant on 31 Aug 1849. Several of the husband's signed (in place of- women were supposedly of the "weaker" sex, I suppose and were supposed to have a male in charge of whatever belonged to the women.) on the land records in SC. when Job bought everyone out. This is just a rough sketch of the family-each family builds on the other's.
