I can help with Alice Rainwater - just a little bit. grm@castlenet.com provided three possible Alice Rainwaters to brewardf@ionet.net. I can't tell you which one is right, if one is, but I can tell you that the last one is not - the one with J. S. and Margaret as her parents. That Alice, having married William Clarence (Happy) Essman and only him in her life would make her not the appropriate one in this pursuit. That Alice was my grandmother. By-the-way, for all those truly interested, that Margaret is, in reality, Marget. Her maiden name was Scarber - Marget Scarber. That is the correct spelling according to how the family knew her, it is how she appeared as she was found in the first census in which she is found, and that is the way it is on her headstone in the Rainwater-Essman Mt. Hope Cemetery in Franklin County, AR. That cemetery sits just outside the Mt. Hope Church where J. S. Rainwater was pastor. Be it right or wrong, it is Marget Scarber. That is about all we know about Marget, inciden- tally, and I would be extremely happy to be wrong about her if anyone can step up with more and/or better information about her. I can also attest to the suggestion that Mountain Home is probably in AR and not OK, although a lot of small communities have disappeared over the years. Good luck finding the right one. Gene Essman
