Hi Bob, Back in Jan you asked if anyone had a list of Silas Mercer R.'s children. I went through my files after things settled down and this is what I found: Silas Mercer bn 25 Jul 1825 in Spartanburg Dist SC.,son of Miles and Nancy (Edwards) Rainwater. On the 1850 census for Fayette Co.,Ala, he is age 25 and Mary Jane Hindman (his wife) is age 15. Also in the household is his mother Nancy-age 60 (GS# 0002347-fam 113) Both Silas and Mary Jane are buried in Wesley Chapel Methodist Church Cem. I assume Nancy is also there in an un-marked grave as she is not listed in the cemetery book.Silas died 8 Nov 1902. Mary Jane was bn 1 June 1835 and died 27 Aug 1905. Their children; 1-Hannah A.-age 6 1860 2-Miles S.-bn Sep 1857-md 11 Jan 1888 to Sarah Frances "Fannie" Allen (bn Sep 1863 and died 1943) Miles died 21 Jul 1911. Both buried in Wesley Chapel.Fannie was the daughter of George Washington Allen and his wife Winnie Minerva Loftis. 3-Martha E.-age 1 1860 4-Mary M-age 7 1870-md 16 Oct 1884 to Walter A.Guin 5-Sarah F.-age 4 1870 6-Alice L-age 2 1870-md S.R.Smith 11 Nov 1888 7-Wiley-age 8 1880-md L.J.Collins (I dont have date) 8-Silas W.-age 6 1880 9-Lewis Oscar-age 4 1880-md 18 Dec 1904 to Pearl Guin 1860 film # 0803009-pg 519 Fam 608 1870 film # 0545538- Fam # 75 1880 -Soundex-(R536) Vol 11 Ed 134 Sh 3 Beat 12-Strickland's 1900-Soundex Vol 30 Ed 54 Sh 1-Pct 16 Strickland's #2 child-Miles S.and his wife "Fannie" had the following children: 1-Winnie Eppie-bn Jul 1890 md O.L.Taylor 4 Oct 1906. 2-(f) Autie-bn Jun 1892 3-Mary Ella-bn Jul 1894-md K.W.Hindman 2 Dec 1916 4-Maudie-bn Nov 1897 5-(m) Almus J.(on 1900 census) and Aleene J. on the 1910 census bn Mar 1900 6-(m) Alonds on 1910-age 8-Lando on the 1920 7-Overton on 1910-age 5 named as Clinton on the 1920.(some notes-was Rev O.Clinton Rainwater) 8-Roscoe-age 2 1910 -md Lois Cannon #9 child-Lewis Oscar and his wife Pearl only show 2 children; 1-Hazel age 3 1910 2-(m)Milner-age 7 1920 Miles' estate was finally settled 10 Sep 1840. He died intestate so no will .The final settlement is on GS# 1022782 Real estate Bk Vol B2-pg 22-25.
