Gildie and Larry, I am intrigued by your info on John Rainwater and his wife, Mary Cunningham. The reason for my interest is the presence of a Cunningham in the Rainwater clan. My direct ancestor is James Rainwater, referred to by fellow researchers as "the blacksmith". James was born around 1801 in SC, and his wife, Apposley, was born around 1802 in NC, and they were married between 1810 and 1820, location unknown. Apposley's maiden name is unknown, but believed by many to be "Cunningham", because of the presence in their household in Campbell County, GA in 1850 of one "William Cunningham", born around 1787 in New York, and a hatter by trade. I have no info on Apposley, and she appears to be a mystery to other researchers also. I have discovered little to conclude decisively who the father of James the Blacksmith was. The marriage between your John Rainwater and Mary Cunningham opens a new avenue to pursue and I was wondering if you had any info on Mary, or where and when she and John were married. Thanks.
