    3. Cathy, You may want to try Pinkney F. Rainwater as possible brother to your Susan. Pinkney frequently shows up in land records in many counties around Atlanta in the mid-1800's. His father was Job Rainwater, and my records show two older sisters to Pinkney that I haven't identified yet, but both were born prior to 1810. I don't show a sister for Pinkney who was born around 1815. Pinkney was born around 1812 in SC. 3. Hi everyone, I had to make a flying trip to SL to have "minor laser surgery" on my left eye. I had cataract's removed on both eyes in 1997 and this "filming" just seemed to creep up on me. Also the lens that was implanted has shifted up and isn't where it's supposed to be. He will try to nudge it back in place in Mar. When we got to SL last night, it started snowing and it dumped about 8" of the wet, heavy snow, which makes it horrible to try to get around. It cleared off about 11am,then we came on home. We didn't get a snowflake out of the storm at our place. (We're 2 1/2 hours southeast of SL) I tried to get on-line Saturday night but our server was switching over to newer digital modems and all lines were screwed up until late yesterday. The information on Daniel Boone Rainwater was from Mr. Marion Wheeler, who is a grand-son of Lillian Lavinia who married Henry Overton Cagle. It was sent in Nov 1983 and he had just retired and moved. The last address I have for him is Route 9 Box 208D: Fort Worth,Tex 76179. Also, Jerry A. Rainwater of Norman, Okla who is also a descendant of James (the Blacksmith) has done a lot of research on that line. His address is 300 Hal Muldrow Dr #231 Norman,Okla 73069. I'm not sure what he has on Daniel B. as he's descended from Miles Ebe.Daniel is thought to have died and been buried in Aly,Yell,Ark. All I know is-he wasn't on the 1900 census with his family. Also, I noted someone said that Vianna was called Viney and was Lillian Lavinia-no such thing-- they have 2 different birthday's .One was bn in 1879 in Birmingham,Ala and Vianna was bn in 1884 in Ark. As I am sorting and filing,if I come across anything else on this family, I'll put it on-line,ok? Glidie

    3. Hi, I have noticed heavy traffic on the Rainwater listings. I truly hope someone can assist me or offer advise as to where to search, I am at a stand still on my Susan Rainwater / William Lewis. William Lewis b. abt. 1818 South Carolina d. 1860-1870 (probally Paulding County, Ga.) wife: Susan Rainwater b. abt. 1815 South Carolina Children: Pinkney Lewis b. abt. 1838 married M. A. Harris 1860 Paulding Co., Ga. Martha R. Lewis b. abt. 1841 married William Lanier 1862 Paulding co., Ga. Henry Felix Turner Lewis b. 4-22-1844 married (probally 2nd wife) Mary Lucinda Garrison House in Izard County, Arkansas William J. Lewis b. abt. 1847 Ga. James Lewis b. abt. 1850 Ga. John J. Lewis ( might be same as James or a twin ) Martha Lewis b. abt. 1858 Ga. Notes: In 1850 the family was in Cobb County, Ga. 1860 in Paulding County, Ga. 1870 in Paulding County, Ga. but Susan Rainwater Lewis is listed without William. Can anyone offer any additional info? All that I have on Susan Rainwater is what is listed above, and her name on a death certificate of her son. Thanks Kathy

    3. There have a few e-mails to the Rainwater list making political comments, complaining about political comments, and then apologizing about political comments. The complaining and apologizing are about as out of place as the original comments. I give everyone one (1) mistake in this area ... one! No cats with nine lives on this subject. Most of the subscribers have come over from a long- running private communication list. Before that private list was converted to the automatic system Rootsweb provides, there was concern about messages consisting of subjects other than genealogy being posted to the automatic list. So you see, the majority of the concern came from the old-list subscribers who had had their share of Christmas greetings, forwarded jokes, arguments, etc. So this ruling is the desire of the majority. I probably will need to post this warning off and on for the benefit of new subscribers. I'm not trying to be a hard nose, to threaten or embarrass anyone, however the strict rule on this list is genealogy-related subjects. We are all friends here, and all business - the business of genealogy. On a more pleasant subject, there are several who have massive data files on the history of certain Rainwater clans. There has been a private suggestion made to me by a subscriber --- He will foot the cost of a good new, writeable CD drive. He has offered to combine all our various individual family files into one comprehensive CD, then it to be made available at cost, somewhere about $6 or 7 including the shipping. Your comments and ideas are requested concerning this suggestion. Please post them to the general list for discussion. Thank you again for your continued support. It was "The Joseph and Barsheba Thomas Webb Genealogy", and traces their family to the mid-1700's. Mostly they are located in East Tennessee. While browsing the book for my FORTENBERRY or HICE family I found the following. Zelma Alice Costner, daughter of Charity Webb (born 1844) and Frank Costner married Eli Mathis. Had six children: Howard and Harold (twins), Carroll, Jack and Betty (twins), and Barbara. William Moody "Bill" Teague, born 1897, married Blanche Rainwater. Had three children: Mary Bernice, Robert Joseph, and Gordon. Ida Ruth Williamson, born 3/27/1948, married Donald Mathis, born 1947. Had two children: Donnie and Robin. Thelma Hill married Wayne Rainwater. One child, Micky. Rachel Williamson, born 5/12/1875 an died 8/10/1931), married R. Dharman Mathis. Had eleven children: Eli, Kurt, Sam, Ritta, Lena and Jeter (twins), Mary, Lewis, Tom, Theodore, and Rufus. Annie Lou Gibson married Kermit Thomas Rainwater. Had twins, Victor and Victoria. Some of the primary names in the book include: WEBB, GILES, McGAHA, McMAHON, WILLIAMSON, and COSTNER. Also several entries for MATHES. If any of the above names ring a bell, I do have access to the book for more indepth info. Hope something is helpful to you. Ramona
