1. [RAINWATER-L] Rainwater
2. Hello Fellow Researchers! I was doing some work on my webpage tonight, and I am getting ready to archive my guestbook. Going through it, I see some inquiries on Rainwater's, with emails that do not look familiar to our group. If you have the time to browse, you might want to drop by and check out the guestbook, and see if there is any info there that might interest you! Since I am telling you all this, I will not archive it until this weekend. Regards, Lisa Rainwater Lisa's Home page

3. Joseph, Yes, there is a Miles in James the Blacksmith's family. His oldest son was Miles Rainwater, born September, 1816 in SC. James the Preacher also had a son with the name, Miles. His oldest son, and second born, was named Zebulon Miles Rainwater, born around 1823. James the Blacksmith also had a son named Zebulon Rainwater, born Feb. 25, 1823. Appears the Rainwaters didn't want us to figure out which James belonged to which Rainwater family in SC. Dan Bruce At 08:53 AM 2/2/99 -0600, Joseph B. 3. Gildie, Lavinia, or Aunt Vin, was married to Henry Cagle in Arkansas. I'm probably going to confuse things by mentioning this, but Henry passed away sometime shortly before the turn of the century, and Aunt Vin married again. Aunt Vin's second husband was Ulysis G. Walker, also known as Isa. Isa was the brother of John Bailey Walker, who married Vina Rainwater, Lavinia's sister and my great grandmother. John Bailey Walker was my great grandfather. 3. Hi all, regarding the given name Miles: In my line thru William 1774-1825 who was bro to Miles 1787-1826 had a son Miles born 15 May 1818 at Faubush, Pulaski, KY dying in 1887....a Son of William above, named Bartholomew also had a son Miles, born 7 April 1836 at Pulaski Co., KY moving to Kansas and later to California having two dau's dying without issue in CA. Bartholomew also had a son Josiah W 1843-1934 who had a son Miles born 15 June 1876 at Waterloo, Pulaski Co., KY dying 1956. William 1774-1825 also had a son William Howard 1814-? who had a son Miles born 21 Oct 1843 at Somerset, Pulaski, KY dying 29 Sept 1927. William Howard 1814-? also had a son John Raleigh 1841-1910 who had a son Miles Evan 1863-1941 at Casey Co., KY dying 4 Jan 1941 at Heavener, Le Flore Co., OK........may be more but time for dinner.....but the bottom line is that the Kentucky line of Rainwater also carried the name Miles over several generations..........Might be interesting to know just how many family members were named Miles.....Seems to me that I also saw the name Miles Rainwater in a Nevada phone book at one time. 3. Hi all! Since Bob suggested repeating requests periodically, I thought I'd weigh in. I'm pursuing my wife's Rainwater ancestors. Her mother's maiden name was Rainwater and goes back as follows: Eva Louanna Rainwater is the daughter of Lauren Melvin (Bill) Rainwater and Dorothy Hazel Thomas. Lauren was born 30 Mar 1917 Drumright, Pawnee Oklahoma, Married 20 Aug 1937 McPherson, McPherson, Kansas. He may still be alive (I'm not sure). Lauren was the son of John Sanborn Rainwater (B 11 Jan or Jun 1885, D 1960 Norco, CA) and Della Ann Townsend (B 17 dec 1888 Natural Dam, Crawford, AR, D 5 May 1985 La Habra CA) I'm also interested in the Townsends, by the way. Lauren was the son of Robert Allen Rainwater (B 24 Jul 1861 Lees' Creek Township, Crawford, AR M 23 Feb 1879 Crawford Co, AR D 8 Mar 1953 Sapulpa, Creek, Co, Ok) and Katherine Wyatt Robert was the son of Maston Crawford Rainwater (B 18 Jun 1822 Jefferson Co, TN M 20 Jan 1844 Jefferson Co, TN D 25 Nov 1863 Crawford Co, AR) and Martha Jane McCarter. Maston's father was James Rainwater (B 1791 Richmond Co, NC M 1 May 1809 Rockingham, Richmond Co, NC D 27 Jul 1871 Crawford Co, AR) James served in the War of 1812. Boy, that's a lot! Anyway, that's the line I'm following. I've gotten a lot of good info from this group, for which I am very grateful! I'm especially interested in following any indian connections, and have gotten some as recent as Robert Allen Rainwater and his sons speaking Cherokee. If anyone has info, or would like what I have, drop me a line! Bliss in San Angelo TX

3. Hi Kathy, I'm not sure if you saw the message I sent to Dan- He had mentioned the possibility of Susan being a sister of Pinkney Ferron R. and following is the mesage I sent him. Also, the Rainwater's in Cobb Co.,Ga before 1850 are the descendants of Solomon and Ruth Felton. It's very possible she was a daughter of John and Susannah as all their daughters have not been accounted for, by anyone. My message to Dan You mentioned Pinkney Ferron R posibbly having older sisters. Yes he did, > however Susan isn't one of them. I have been working on Solomon and Ruth > Felton Rainwater's descendants for the last year and have quite a bit on > them, > if anyone is descended from that line. 1. [RAINWATER-L] Which Viney?

3. Hi Dan, OK- that's clear. Now which one married Henry Cagle? According to Mr. Wheeler, it was Lillian Lavinia. Is that correct? I agree 2 Vina's in one family is very confusing. However, I have been in contact with another researcher and they have a Diana and a Deana in the same family. Verrrry confusing. Glidie

3. Gildie, Thanks for all the info. Correction to the info you got on Lillian Lavinna and Vianna. Lillian Lavinna was my great grandmother's sister, whom the family called, "Aunt Vin". My great grandmother is the one you refer to as, "Vianna", which was not her name. Her name was Vina, but my great grandfather called her Viney. Two "Vin's" in the same family can get to be confusing, but there was no "Vianna" in the family. The sister you refer to as Vianna was named Vina. I hope this isn't clear as mud now. 3. Hi Dan, Sorry, I think you misunderstood me. I meant to say Viney was Lillian Lavinia, not Vianna who was another daughter altogether. I gave where I got the information from in the letter you forwarded about 6:30 tonight. It was from a grand-son of Lillian Lavinia who married as 4th wife to Henry Overton Cagle. I'm pretty sure he's from that marriage and not her 2nd husband as he talks about Henry Cagle in his letter. You mentioned Pinkney Ferron R posibbly having older sisters. Yes he did, however Susan isn't one of them. I have been working on Solomon and Ruth Felton Rainwater's descendants for the last year and have quite a bit on them, if anyone is descended from that line. I think this Susan is possibly one of the daughters of John and Susannah R. of Spartanburg Dist. Even though they are not listed in the final distribution, they may have already had their share of John's estate before they left SC. The first Rainwater I show living in Paulding Co.,Ga(on 1850) is Allen (bn 1814-SC) and his wife Nancy T.Lambert.They have 3 children; John Daniel bn 4 Nov 1842-md Rebecca Linton and died 19 Aug 1920.Samuel P. bn 1844, md 24 MAy 1861 to Sarah Lakey ;Mary Jane bn 1846 and md Robert Wesley Dison. It's very possible that he is her brother and they've moved together. The "Pinkney" name was prevalent after the RW. There was a very famous commander by that name so a lot of little boys fot named Pinkney. Hope I don't get anyone more confused. Hopefully, that's what this forum is for. 3. Gildie, I didn't say that Vianna was Lillian Lavinna. I said that Vianna was Vina, and my great grandfather called her Viney. Vina(Viney) Rainwater(b. 1884 in Ark) was my great grandmother. Vina's name was never Vianna. I was attempting to correct your record for my great grandmother. I would like to attempt again to inquire where you got the information on the death of Vina's mother, Martha P. Quillen. I don't think any of the researchers related to Daniel and Martha have that info, so if you would share the source of your information, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.
