A Rainwater researcher sent me this years ago, and I don't know who compiled it, or who sent it to me. I would like to share it (in increments) and will type it exactly as it is written. Hi Annie, I assume you have Alexander Martin Rainwater as a child of John Nelson and Barbara (Emert) Rainwater, don't you. My question is this-How can he be their son when his Biographical sketch in the Ore.Donation Land Claim book-pg 525- states he was born 29 Aug 1829. On the 1870 census he states he's 49 (bn 1821).John would have been 22 and Barbara would have been 11 !!! Also I have (from someone) that the md 1823 in Sevier Co.,Tn. A.M. is the only child bn NC. All the others-with the exception of Elizabeth Charity C. were bn in SevierCo.,Tn. Just another puzzle to work out. Hi, I have been waiting for any posting on my Rainwater family. Just for future information, I am descended from John and Barbara (Emert/Emmett) Rainwater through their son Alexander Martin Rainwater. I have quite a bit of information on Alexander's family and would like more on his siblings and parents. Also any on the the line going backwards. Hi Annie, Have been going through all my files to answer your question. As far as I've been able to find out through census' and other records-Enoch F. Rainwater was the son of John and Barbara (Emert) Rainwater.I've never found him as John Nelson R. anywhere except in family information submitted to the IGI and Ancestral File. John F. Rainwater is shown on the 1860 Ray Co.,Mo census (pg 189-fam # 1296) as a child of Enoch F. and Cate (Catherine Remely) Rainwater. Enoch is shown as "school- teacher" bn Tn. Cate is bn Mo. They md 5 Jan 1854 in Ray Co.,Mo. (M515661-Film # 959300) The M means it's an extracted record from a microfilm of the original record. My question is - where were they on the subsequent censuses? I'm assuming this is John Freeman R. Again, I haven't found him as such on any record. Would appreciate any input on this family. Hope this helps some. I'm going uo to Salt Lake on the 10th for the Utah DAR State Conference and I hope to get some research done while I'm there, this time. If I find anything I'll keep you posted. From a magazine of Albemarle Co., VA - history of Midmont....Dr. Barringer went to see another student who was rooming at the University. He wasn't in, but his roommate answered the door and introduced himself as Cloud Rainwater. "Was your father Indian?" asked young Barringer. "No, a damned fool," answered young Rainwater, "My sister's name is Dew." In later research, indeed there was a Cloud Rainwater, son of Capt. James (1837), son of Pinkney (1812), son of Solomon (1765) son of James (1734) and Catherine Regan. Also, in the LDS International Genealogical Index, I found a woman named Sunflower Rainwater, who married a man named Plante! So her married name would be Sunflower Rainwater Plante!
Hi Bob, I'm still working on my files and finding a lot of good tidbits of information. I've always wondered how and where R.H.Folmar ties into the Rainwater line. He married Maude Love Rainwater on 21 Jan 1928. She was the daughter of Bertram A.Rainwater and May Belle Petree. Maude was born 10 May 1908 in St.Louis,Mo. Bertram and Maude had 4 children: Dorothy May Rainwater-bn19 Nov 1905-St.Louis,Mo-md R.W.McCay 12 Dep 1925 Maude Love Rainwater-bn 10 May 1908-St.Louis,Mo-md R.H.Folmar Alice Clay Rainwater-bn 8 May 1911-St.Louis,Mo Virginia Ellen Rainwater-bn 23 July 1916-St.Louis,Mo-md Terrel Crow 3 Apr 1935. I also have a list of the brothers and sisters of Sarah Hannah Fowler who married Charles Cicero Rainwater, son of Moses F. Glidie

Hi Paula, The first 8 children are all that's listed in Jane Bobo's will and distribution of her estate.Even the deceased children are named and their children, heirs at law of Jane.
