I would like to tell you folks just what little I know abt. the early Rain(e)s Clan. The first Rains mentioned was Roland Raines, farmer around 1620. The next was Wm. Reynes first mentioned February 8, 1634. From " Cavaliers and Pioneers, Abstract of Land Patents and Grants, Volumes 1, 2, and 3". " Charles Maagner (Magnor) Planter of Flowerde hundred unto William Hayward, Gent of Cawseys Cleere, by deed of sale, 650 acres more or less, lying and being upon Appamattock Riv., bording E. upon the same, W. the mainland, S. upon Appamattock Towne and N. upon Swift Cr. 8Feb. 1634" Witness by Wm.
