    3. Does this connect with anyone's RAINS family? I have a copy of an article from TENNESSEE GENEALOGY AND HISTORY, Vol. 2, No. 2, on John RAINS, b. August 2, 1759, near Fredericksburg, VA., that states he moved to Randolph County, NC, while still a boy, then returned to Virginia married, moved to Sevier Coutny, TN, where he lived for 22 years, then moved to Overton County, and then to Bledsoe County, TN; that his wife was Letitia RAINS, and son Samuel S. RAINS. Also there is mention of a Dorothy Adaline BRITT, b. February 6, 1824, who is not identified. If this is your line, let me know. Peggy

    3. Peggy, This John is the son of either Robert or Ishmael Rains, Can't remember which but somewhere I have read about it and probably still have that information some where. He was called Capt. John and came to Randolph with his father. He served in the War from Randolph then returned to Virginia where he married and then went to Tennessee. He never established his own residence in Randolph so you will probably find no information from there.
