Delores, The first time I heard the name Martin Van Buren used in the family was a child of John and Eleanor (Rains) Bracken. Eleanor was a daughter I think of Asahel Rains, Martin and his twin brother Washington Lafayette received an inheritress from Asahel. My guess is that one of her brothers named a child after him. This is only a guess but these eight children of George Rains used there brothers names all the time and looks like one of Asahel sons may have done the same thing. By the way I think a while back I gave you the name of Eleanor and told you her father was George Major, this is an error I believe because they also called Asahel Major. any way Eleanor is the daughter of Asahel Bob ---Original Message----- From: Dolores W RAINESSUTTON [mailto:drainessutton@juno.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 08, 2001 9:53 PM To: RAINS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [RAINS] RAINS in Clarksville, Red River County, Texas Bob Found this Texas Pension Applications Mrs D.C.
