    2. Mary Stephenson
    3. Good morning Rains folks! I am searching for any William Rain(es) that might have lived in Randolph Co., N.C. from late 1700's to 1850? I you have ANY data on ANY William Rains in that vicinity , please post it to me. I am still searching for my 2nd great Rains grandparents, and have had it narrowed down to either Anthony or William.. I recieved data to relinquish Anthony, (If it is true, and the right Anthony) so that leaves William. Please help me if you possibly can. Thank you in advance. Mary masdal@ala.net -

    3. My daughter is desc from Olivia Rains and Henry Gatewood's son Charles. I am trying to find out about Olivia's ancestry. My first check in Amherst Co is that there was only Ignatius Rains there when Olivia married in 1786. Do you have any information that can help me? I understand that Olivia died 144 in Pulaski Co Missoiri. Do you have proof of that, or know where she was buried? Or know more about her children? Thank you very much for your help. 3. Deloris, George and Rosannah(Graham) Rains had the following children. Joab, Asahuel, George, Hannah, James, William, John, and Robert. They came to to Randolph Co., N.C. about 1772 from Caroline Co., Va. Joab was born 1770 and Asahuel in 1772 and by the time census was taken in 1779 the other six were born. Don't know if this will help you or not but does have the names you asked about. In looking through the five men often refered to as the five Rainsmen in Randolph, George is the only one I see with all three names you refer to. About 1806 they were in Warren Co., TN. and then they went in all directions. 3. Mary, Your section numbers attached to the land are very helpful! I have not seen those before. I'll have to look at my land map and make some refinements because what I have is just general areas. Thanks! No, I don't yet know about parents for Luellen, but you can be sure it isn't Anthony. You haven't heard much out of me because my main computer is still misbehaving and I can't update the web pages until it is working again. Melva Mary Stephenson wrote: > Well, Hi there Melva!! 3. Well, Hi there Melva!! Haven't heard from you in forever! I was going over my Rains papers today and I am trying to fit kids with parents for all these Randolph Co. N.C. Rains folks. I am still trying to pin down the parents for my Luellen, John, Susannah, Patsey, and Mary Rains. Has anyone figured it out yet? I was almost sure it was Anthony. It is either Anthony, Robert or William. In 1810, Anthony , James, 2 Johns, Luellen, 2 Roberts and a William are all piled up right there together. In 1800, Anthony is at 337, Betty, John and William are on section 338, George , Robert and Lawrence are at section 336 and George, Henry, Joab, and John are on section 339. Now, they are so close together, that there is no way they are not Father and son, and brothers!! One of these men was my Patsey b. 1795's father!! WHICH WITCH??!! :o) I haven't worked on my Rains in forever. I found new surnames in my family and have been trying to get them straight, before starting the digging. I always try to figure out how deep I am going to have to dig before I start!! Hope things are going well with all the research. I had scanned a little today of the last Rains stuff you sent out. Didn't get very far as there is so much data to scrutinize. Let me know if you know which man belongs to me, OK? Joan, at the bottom of this message, you stated: Page 190 - WILLIAM RAINES A listof taxable property within the district of William Gaines, Commissioner for the county of Mercer forthe year 1795 William Raines - 1 hourse My question, William Gaines, is this a typo, or is it Gaines????? The reason I question this, is sometimes names fool us, and I thought maybe the R was transformed to G and I should research the Gaines for my Raines.
