    1. Re: [RAINS] Christopher
    2. I have a book, Rains, Raines/Rane and Kindred, by Katherine Buck Rains, of Wayne Co., Va. It is not indexed, which makes it very difficult to find anybody, but I did find one mention of Christopher Raines. It says, "Christopher Raines married Amy Boyd, daughter of John W. Mitchell on Jan. 28, 1788." This was in Brunswick County, which was formed from Prince George Co. in 1732. She also says, " There is a Christopher Raines in Cumberland Co., N.C. by 1790, Fayette District, with l white male 16 and upward and 1 white female. Also in the same county and district was an Anthony Raines with 1 white male 16 and upward, 3 white males under 16, and 5 white females. This Anthony Raines appears to be older than Christopher Raines. This Anthony Raines is not the same man who married Nancy Graham. The ages of their children do not correspond." Eva

I have been tracing for almost five years and have found nothing regarding Elizabeth and Lucy Raines and I don't think I have ever asked for info on them in query form. Thanks for the info on Hartwell. If you would kindly give me the names of his siblings I would be most apreciative. Thanks, Vivienne (Vivipoet@aol.com)

    1. [RAINS] Elizabeth and Lucy Raines
    2. Looking for any information on Elizabeth and Lucy Raines. Elizabeth is my great, great grandmother. She was born circa 1810 and married Robert J. Justice in Walton County, GA in 1834. She appears on the 1850 Meiwether County census. Lucy Raines lived with the family and I believe this is her sister. Robert J. was the son of Benjamin Justice and was born in Greene County, GA. He appears on the 1840 Walton County census. I have been unable to find the parents of Elizabeth and Lucy Raines. Benjamin was from Virginia and Halifax County, NC and first appears on a Georgia census in 1820. Elizabeth Raines and Robert J Justice were the parents of Augustus Caesar, my great grandfather, John Hartwell, Robert S., Lucy Green, Mary Ann and Elizabeth Emily. Any information on this line would be much appreciated. Thank you, Vivienne (Vivipoet@aol.com)
