How's everybody getting those wills? I would love to have them too. I have almost nothing on my Rain(es)/Raynes/Ranes! I would love to look them over in hopes of finding something about my Raines. Eva, please do not go to any extra trouble on these Rains. I thought you just might have some info already. You should write A book as much info as you have. Boy, all those wills should help some people. I wish I was setting in the "Godfather State" then I could go really crazy looking at all that material. You take care. Vergil
Eva, thats ok I have the will now. Thanks Vergil
Sue, Charlotte is listed last on my list; however, that does not mean she was last child born to George and Amy. There birthdays are not given on my info. Sorry for misinfo. Vergil
Eva,I hate to ask you this, but yes I would like to see John Rainy Will. No one that I know of could never establish Thomas's father. The Thomas I'm looking for was born probably 1700-1707. Your Thomas could be the Thomas I'm looking for nephew. Actually no big deal but the Thomas I'm looking for is an unknown by me and his own decendents. I thought that William was his father. Maybe send both if you get that attachment thing figured out Ha! Vergil
Sue, you have hit the nail right on the head. George Rains b.7/26/1769 married Amy McManus in Randolph Co.,NC. in 1792. He married 2nd Nancy (Harber?). According to my records Charlotte was the last child of George and Amy. George is my 4g-gf's nephew. My 4g-gf ,Lawrence, married Ann McManus abt. 1785. Amy and Ann are sisters. So I have given you a double wamme. I can supply more dates and a run down on the McManus Family if you need it. I can drop offline and give you what you need . Vergil Raines,my gf added the (e). Vergie, Maybe there IS a connection to my Ranes somehow through your line of Raines. I don't know. The biography below is of William Craig. I think the Joseph and Charlotte Craig who were his parents may have been the Charlotte Rains who m. in Highland Co., OH. William Craig and his wife lived very close to my William Ranes family in Allen Co., OH. Am I on the right track here??? Sue CHALOTTE RAINS AND JOSEPH CRAIG FROM HIGHLAND CO., OH: 1875 Personal Histories from Jackson Township as published in the 1875 Historical Atlas of Allen County, Ohio by H H Hardesty & Co. Publishers, Chicago. WILLIAM H CRAIG is a native of Highland County. In 1852, at the age of 17, he came to Allen County with his parents, Joseph and Charlotte Craig. His wife's parents, John and Mary Hulliberger, came from Perry County in 1830. She was born on the 30th of May, 1838, and is one of a family of six--Sarah H., Elizabeth K., Susan B., Reason T., Eda M. and Joseph M. Mr. C. has two brothers and three sisters--George T., Martha L., Nancy J., John and Angeline. He has four children--Rosetta E., Mary C., Annetta L. and Nora O. Do you know if the information below is correct or not? It seems like this might be the right Charlotte and Joseph. Trying to put the pieces together. Charlotte RAINS Spouse: Joseph CRAIG Marriage: 25 Oct 1832 Highland, Ohio Birth: 22 Oct 1812 Highland, Ohio Father: George RAINS Mother: Amy MCMANUS ----- Original Message ----- From: <baxter60@aol.com> To: <RAINS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 02, 2001 2:48 PM Subject: Re: [RAINS] Rains, Ranes > SSOHN, The George you are looking at is the son of Ishmael. Yeap, Yeap, Yeap, Virgil Send the will. We need all we can get. Funny you seperate the Rains from the Raines that way, which makes a lot of sence. However, we grew up signing our name Raines, then when Dad passed on we learned he had changed his to Rains. So where do we fit in, half and half, Ha. Thought you would get a kick out of it. dee baxter60@aol.com wrote: > Eva,I call these Raines South of the James River Raines. This group basically > went South into Georgia.
