I know this is the land area we later find holding Joseph, John and a cast of other familiar characters. The Hartons and the Bells implies that this is the Daniel or Francis group...which does NOT exclude Wm Powell or James and Joan or Timothy, but the interconnection of the John R, Harton, Bell is strong, and the Joseph R is right with them. I'm not sure I can defend this statement, but I feel that as they entered NC in the 1750's, the R's connection between the Joseph R. and the Francis R/DanielR and the John R/Bell is more recent than any connection between Wm Powells, Timothy, James/Joan and the John/Bell, Fran/Daniel, Joseph R...These connections are further back in new and old VA and MD. Because it's MD and he is an Immigrant to MD...there is no USofA and MD didn't give a Hoot about what was in VA. Some folks went back and forth.
