Hello, all you Ragans, Reagans, Riggens, etc. I've been a subscriber to Ragan-Roots since way back when Michael was taking care of it and am glad to see all the activity on the site again. However, I still haven't found anyone who knows anything about my branch of the family, who came to Michigan via Ontario, Canada. As I recall, Michael had some Michigan connections, but he didn't have anything on them either. In a nutshell, here's what I have: Edman Ragan, b Ontario, Ca ca 1800, m Mary Able, dau of Lyman and ? Able. The Able's are said to have been Quakers. Edman and Mary had a son, Uriah, b Ontario, 1828, Uriah m Catherine Reynolds (b Dublin, Ire. 1832), on Dec 25, 1850. Urhiah d 1898 and Catherine d 1909. Both are buried in Marlette, MI. Uriah and Catherine had 3 children: Demaline, (or maybe William Demaline)b ca 1852, was captain of a Great Lakes schooner "Jupiter" and died when she went down in a storm on Lake Huron 9/15/01. He was married and had 2 or more children. Marietta Elizabeth, (6/20/1854 - 4/30/1930) had 3 husbands: John Moors, Cecil Wiltse, and Luther Sherman. Marietta and John Moors were my g-grandparents. She is buried with her parents in Marlette, MI. I presume John is buried in that area, but don't know where. Marietta and John Moors had 5 children, Marietta and Cecil Wiltse had 1, and she had none with Luther Sherman Margaret - I have no info re: her birth date, etc. I have additional info re: Catherine Reynolds' parents and siblings, and for some of Marietta and John Moors' offspring, but there are a lot of gaps that need filling. I realize the Canadian record-keeping system poses some real problems, so if any of the Ragan-Roots family can help, I'd really appreciate it. Dave Lee
