James, I can only answer some of your questions. Yes, in 1801 Jeremiah Ragan and wife Abigail were in Washington County, Tennessee and their son Daniel and his wife Elizabeth Harrison Ragan were in Christian County, Kentucky. The document I typed lists Daniel Harrison, Mary Cavenaugh, Jean Smith and Abigail Ragan as heirs of Daniel Harrison who is deceased. The deceased Daniel (1701-1770) was the husband of Margaret Cravens. This works. See chart below. Daniel Harrison, Jr., Mathew Harrison, Ann Harrison and Jesse Harrison, heirs of Jesse Harrison, decd. are confusing to me. Clearly they are part of the same family. But if you look at the chart below, there are two Jesse's, one said to have died in 1817 and his son, Jesse, who died in 1826. Family records posted on line give the following children for the senior Jesse: Ann (b. 1758), Daniel (b. 1760), Jesse (b. 1763), Mary (b. 1767) and Benjamin Peachy (b. 1772). This fits the advertisement I sent you from the 1801 Political Mirror to a T with an important exception. Benjamin Harrison, the advertiser, is the brother of "heirs and legal representatives of Jesse Harrison, deceased" except that according to other family records, Jesse Harrison, Sr. died in 1817. I don't know what to make of this. I'm not a Harrison family expert and some of the information I've found on line is contradictory. Here is the line we are talking about from a site that is based on DNA testing of male Harrisons. The advantage of this chart is that the relationships are proved by DNA testing. Other Harrison lines have a very different signature. I'm only copying the part that concerns the people we're talking about. Since this testing is of males, female children in the line are not included, but I've typed them in here in red where I know them.
