Hi all, I'm hoping that someone can help me prove a connection that is supported by the preponderance of evidence but for which I need documentation. Did Daniel Reagan/Ragan's widow, Elizabeth Harrison Reagan/Ragan, marry William Morrel after Daniel's death. Daniel Reagan (spelling as on transcription -- born 1766 in Rockingham County, VA) left a will dated December 12, 1804 in Christian County, Kentucky that was recorded in the April term of 1805. He names wife, Elizabeth (Harrison), John C. Harrison and "Jeremiah Reagan, my father, of the state of Tennessee." He mentions "the tract of land on which I now live, bought of Nehemiah Cravens" and "my children until they come of age or marry" but does not name them. Witnesses were John Campbell and Daniel Harrison. I believe that Elizabeth Harrison Reagan/Ragan is likely the same as Betsey Regin for whom I have a marriage bond from Barren County, Kentucky dated 13 June 1808. The groom was William Morrel. The other bondsman was Jesse Harrisson (spelling as in the signature on the bond). This marriage was performed by the Rev. John Mulkey on June 14, 1808. Mulkey was the well-known pastor of the Mill Creek congregation in what is now Monroe County, KY near the Tennessee border. William Morrel was born in Amherst County, Virginia before 1853, moved in succession to Burke County, NC; Pendleton District, SC, and about 1806 to Jackson County, Tennessee. His first wife, Nancy Montgomery, seems to have died in South Carolina before 1800. Daniel and Elizabeth Reagan/Ragan are said to have had a son Nehemiah Cravens Regan born in 1803. I have not seen documentation of this but there is a Nehemiah Cravens Reagan on the 1820 census for Jackson County. I do not find any further census records. There is also a record of a Jesse Ragin in Col. James Raulston's 3rd Regiment of Tennessee Militia, Captain Henry West' Company at the Battle of New Orleans. This Jesse Ragin died in service. Many or perhaps all of the men in this company were from Jackson County, Tennessee. I will appeciate any help list members can offer on this crowd. John Newton Morrel morcor@comcast.net
