    3. James, You are right, of course, about Daniel's probable birthplace as being Augusta County rather than Rockingham County if his birth date is accurate. I really backed into this family because of the possible link to William Morrel and have done only a bit of independent research of antecedents on either the Ragan/Reagan or Harrison side. (Reagan is the spelling Daniel used to sign his will.) I don't have enough information to link either Henry Reagan or Phoebe Harrison to Jeremiah and Abigail Harrison Ragan at the moment, but here is the text of a document that may lead somewhere for those of you with more background. Advertisement from the Political Mirror of August 11, 1801, vo. II, no. 18, Staunton, VA Daniel Harrison, William Cavenaugh and Mary Cavenaugh his wife, Jean Smith, widow and relict of Daniel Smith, deceased, Jeremiah Ragan, and Abigail Ragan his wife, surviving legatees of Daniel Harrison, deceased, and William Herring, guardian of Daniel Smith, infant under the age of twenty-one years, who is devisee of Daniel Smith, deceased, and Daniel Harrison, junior, Mathew Harrison, Ann Harrison and Jesse Harrison, heirs and legal representatives of Jesse Harrison, deceased. Take notice that in pursuance of an order made in the county court of Rockingham, in a suit there depending in chancery (brought to perpetuate testimony wherein I am plaintiff and you are defendants) I shall on the last Saturday in September next, between the hours of ten in the forenoon and five in the afternoon proceed to take the depositions of John Fairburn, Edward Shanklin, Samuel Hemphill and Andrew Shanklin, [two words smeared] ,at the house of William Herring, there being a commission awarde! d to ta ke the depositions of said persons by the county court aforesaid, the reason of taking said depositions being to perpetuate the testimony of said persons respecting the title to a tract of land which I have in possession, and which I have understood, you pretend to have some claim to; the said persons being aged and infirm, I am your most obedient servant, Benj. Harrison August 6th, 1801. Jeremiah Ragan's wife Abigail is said to be the daughter of Daniel Harrison and Margaret Cravens whose children were Robert, Daniel, Jesse, Jane, Abigail, Benjamin and Mary. Jane Harrison married Daniel Smith. These names are taken from on line records. I do not have independent confirmation. Daniel Reagan's Christian County will names his father as Jeremiah and through many other documents we can locate Jeremiah and Abigail in Washington County, Tennessee at the end of their lives. This much we can confirm absolutely. The will names John C. Harrison as a co-executor and Daniel Harrison is a witness. It is not clear who these two men are. Daniel's wife, Elizabeth Harrison is said in some on line records to have been the daughter of Jeremiah Harrison and his second wife Elizabeth Patterson. Jeremiah's children by both wives are given as follows: By Catherine Adams; Mary b. 1741 Nehemiah v. 1743 Eleanor v. 1744 Lydia Donnell b. 1745 Josiah b. 1746 Jeremiah b. 1747 Abigail b. 1748 Esther or Hester b. 1750 By Elizabeth Patterson Amos b. 12 Mar 1757 Jane b. 12 Oct 1758 Elizabeth b. 1 June 1760 Isaiah b. 1 Feb 1762 Bathsheba b. 6 Nov 1765 Margaret b. 8 July 1766 Ruth b. 7 June 1768 Grace b. 30 Sept 1771 Jeremiah Harrison is said to have died in Greene County, Tennessee in 1798. He is said to be the son of Isaiah Harrison and Abigail Smith as is Daniel Harrison, the father of Abigail who married Jeremiah Ragan. I do not have independent confirmation of these lines, but there is a good deal of documentation from Chalkey and other places that make them seem plausible. If the information as outlined above is accurate as to Jeremiah and Abigail Harrison Ragan and their son Daniel and Elizabeth Harrison Ragan/Reagan, then Abigail and her daughter-in-law Elizabeth would have been second cousins.
