    3. Thank you for the reply. I think Eli Ragon and family lived "at the foot of Jefferson mountain", if that makes any sense. James was b. 1748 md to Sarah Gilliam both possibly from Granville/Bute NC. His parents are unknown. Peter of Rowan appears in Rowan in 1774 with a Thomas Reagan enlisting in Rev War. The last I see of this Peter is in 1785 on Abbotts Creek. Also James "R" (mentioned above) b. 1748 and a later Joel "R" (b. 1760) lives on Abbotts Creek of Rowan. Your Eli appears in Rowan by 1790 along with James Reggins/Sarah Gilliam. Eli is a witness with a Mary Ragan in 1799 Wilkes NC for a C. Calderon. Peter Ragan received a land grant in Ashe NC in 1799 & 1802. This Peter (my ancestor) is the Peter Ragan b. abt 1745 who appears in Wilkes NC by 1779. I dont think he is the same Peter of Rowan. They both exist simutaneously, one in Rowan the other in Wilkes. 1800 Ashe is Eli Ragan and Charles Regans (s/o Peter of Wilkes) 1810 Ashe is C (Charles) Riggins s/o Peter of Wilkes M Ragans (who is he?) J (Jacob Reggens) s/o Eli P Regans not sure if this is Peter Jr s/o Peter Sr of Wilkes. Trying to identify the parents of Peter of Wilkes NC. I have a suspicion his father may be Charles Sr of Granville Bute NC Also the parentage of James "R md to Sarah Gilliam is unknown. Parents of Peter "R" of Rowan is unknown Do you know in where in Rowan & Ashe your Eli resided?
