    3. Halloooooo! Okay, guilty as charged. I have: had the last daughter's wedding, hosted a major fundraiser in my home,MC'd my high school reunion and edited all programs, address lists, badges etc., brought out my first issue as editor of a 30 page newsletter ( first time all digital),had a week of houseguests,  stripped and refinished a dozen antique shop 19th century oak church pews to replace missing ones in 150 year old church ( sticky job), created and burnt 400 DVD's ( so far) commemorating 150th anniversary of same church...cutting 3500+++ photos down to 500 to fit in program and learning to splice and dice MP3's...now there's a learning curve.I bit off too much and was determined to bring it all in on time and to the best I could. I have not answered the phone, the door, or my e-mail. Sorry folks, but it's nice to be missed. Court, you are quite a dectective...yes, the professor you contacted is one of ours... good work! I am sooo impressed. As expected, we are in New England skiing. That means I am on the laptop that caught the glass of red wine and skips "M, B,V, A, space" and hops around...I try to catch all the bloops, but please be patient, and imaginative. Okay, research files here are limited. ( James, I have lost months of our private correspondence due to computer glitches and a less than adept techie.) We were initially looking at the scramble of R's in NC before the Revolution. For those of you who are new to the list, we don't strictly adhere to spelling. Any Rgns we look at. There is more than one line in NC at the Revolution and they seem to be the majority of lines we are researching. At the moment, we are poking at William1, William Powell Rgns2 and his possible link to James/Joan1, William 2, of Charles Co MD. Joan, James' widow, marries John Wood, probably has children by him, and entangles the Rgns with the Woods from this point forward. We know from various church and county records that Joan and James had 6 kids...we lose Margaret, Mathew marries Elizabeth, a dau. of John Chapman and dies in Stafford VA...where most of these folks move to. We need to watch for kids of Mathews. Mary Rgn is key because she marries Samuel Durham and at her wedding is gifted land by John Wood, giving us both identity and geography. This family goes from Charles Co MD, to Stafford VA, to Bute/Warren NC...dragging our names with them. We then come to Charles, William, and John Rgn.All of these folk die in StaffordVA and leave tantalizing records in St Paul's Parish. William marries Elizabeth Bridget Powell, daughter of either William Powell or Richard, ( I believe Richard) William is gifted in will by Richard Powell's widow Grace...who also mentiones Jane...Jane? William has a son Powell...is this the Wm Powell of Warren/Bute, NC?He's involved with Barbee, Derrick, Foote... names we see later in NC and assoc with Rgn and Powell. Charles Rgn marries an unk Elizabeth and dumped a ton of kids all over VA including a Jane, and a Charles who my be one of two in NC. More later. John Rgn...here's meat ! I feel he is key. This John supposedly married the widow of John Wood II. That is the widow of his step brother. We need to prove this. John Wood II predeceased his father. Did his widow hold land that then became taxable to John Rgn? Is there record of John Rgn being guardian to any little Woods? When John Rgn died, his widow married James Carrol. That makes her reputedly, Elizabeth XXX Wood Regan Carrol. Here are various  wills: John Wood, Jr. 36A.244 A CH £52.6.6 #4430 Oct 12 1714 The amount of the inventory is equivalent to #12558. This entry is torn. Payments to: Capt. Thomas Dent, Rev. Mr. William Machonchie, Rev. Scott, George -----, Mathew ----, Charles ----, Edward ----, William Jenkins. Administratrix: Elisabeth Wood. === John Reagon 13.476 CH £82.10.6 Dec 11 1728 Feb 26 1728 Appraisers: Thomas Sanders, John Craxson. Creditors: William Griffith, Daniel McDaniel. Next of kin: James Rose, Peter Fernandie. Administratrix/Executrix: Elisabeth Reagon. === John Reagon 10.244 A CH £82.10.3 £91.16.4 Apr 6 1730 Sureties: Stephen Mankin, James Mankin. Payments to: John Howinson, John Smith, Dr. John Chalmers, William Griffen, Elisabeth Sennett, Barnaby Kelley, Samuel Ranson, Alee Mathews, John Suttly, James Mankin, Daniel McDaniel, Edward Brawner. Distribution to: accountant, children (unnamed, minors). Administratrix: Elisabeth Carroll, wife of James Carroll. === John Wood 18.129 A CH £35.10,0 £33.8.11 Feb 21 1740 ( Note: this is John Wood III, child of Eliz the many times widow, Ann Ross is a full sister of John) Sureties: Richard Chapman, James Mankin. Payments to: Anne Ross, Dr. Brown, James Glascock, James Ross, Richard Chapman, Daniel Wright, George Flanakin, John Stephenson, Matthew Barnes, Daniel Dulany, Esq., Samuel Hanson, Walter Hanson. Representatives: mother, 2 half-sisters (unnamed), 2 half-brothers (unnamed). Administrators: James Carrol and his wife Elisabeth Carrol (mother of deceased) Elizabeth Carrol had no children by James Carrol. If this is indeed the widow of John Rgn and John Wood, then the half brother and sisters of John Wood are Rgns, and we know that John Rgn left at least 2 sons and 2 daughters. We need to prove Eliz XXX married half brothers. the original of John Rgn's will may tell us why Eliz Carrol is adminx. If so, we may be golden. I think I have a will for James Carrol but not Eliz. she must have predeceased. I don't recall any helpful info. If she predeceased, he may not have given a hoot. I figure ole Eliz was at least in her fifties when she married Carrol. Kids too old for bonding. Nice to be back... 3. Maryellen: We are so glad and relieved that you are back among us. A couple of us were beginning to wonder what happened to you and that is when the search for our Maryellen started. In fact I just called the college today to see if they were open and no not until 1/03/11. Remember research is in our blood...........I was going to call back and talk with your daughter to find you no matter what to see if all was well. I still had a couple to calls I could make but was hanging my hat on your daughter to come thru and I thank her for that........so with that said WELCOME back to this madness of Genealogy.....................by the way what do you do in your spare time? I just knew you had to be on one of your skiing trips. Have fun and be safe. Court At 07:07 AM 12/29/2010 -0800, you wrote: >Halloooooo! Okay, guilty as charged.
