Donald, Excuse me for not going into all of my records right this minute. I just saw this and decided to comment before I get offline. I wonder if we are dealing with more than one Darby. Our tradition is that there was a Darby in Tennessee who was the father of my gr.gr.gr. grandfather, Daniel Reagan. In the book listing early Tennesse marriages, Daniel Reagan was married to Elizabeth Scruggs (daughter of William) on July 18, 1803. Darby was listed as having signed for them. Darby is also listed in some DAR research for Charity "Chatty" Reagan Rowe, if I am not mistaken. Daniel was the father of my gr.gr.grandfather, Rev. James Americus Reagan M.D. who, before he became a physician, started out as a Methodis circuit rider who preached his way across the mountains. He met and married the daughter of Rev. Montraville Weaver, for whom Weaverville, NC was named. All this aside, could JAR's grandfather be Darby and the same as the one in SC, or are they different people? Sorry to add to the confusion.
