Gadd ?, had dau Olive...one of 7 sibs, and she married Wm Cain. They had a pack of kids...none named Hugh...I'll go away now.....sigh...M'ellen -----Original Message----- From: ragan-roots-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ragan-roots-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Maryellen Horrigan Sent: Saturday, March 13, 2010 5:18 PM To: ragan-roots@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [RAGAN-ROOTS] Ragon We take any R..g..n spelling you'd like...we have been very quiet lately....perhaps my fault, due to a death in my family, I haven't been throwing stuff out there much lately.. We tend to stick to geography more than spelling. But then, we tend to flop around in the 1700 and 1800's more than other lists of R..g...ns, and there was no standardized spelling until the late 18th early 19th century, so who's checking? The last long discussions I recall were NC 1790 census folk and R..g..n's out of MD into VA and then possibly NC, and new findings on Timothy of Western MD.. We play with NC a lot...there are a lot of unrelated R's there in the late 1700's and early 1800's. It seems to be key to "who's your daddy". Tell us what you know/can prove, and what you can guess/would like. we are big on wishful thinking too. Speaking of which... I have been on two juggernauts....genealogy is a good distraction/focus at any time. The Cathells of MD have married heavily into a branch of the Riggin's of Somerset Co MD...then Worcester Co MD, and then Sussex DE and then on to .....would you believe GA? At which point they are playing my song...Anybody got any Cathells or MD into GA travel in the 1780's? That's the period wherein the Rev War land grants kick in. . THEN, I had a catharsis that I don't yet know with what to do ... In GA is one Ignatius Few. well documented. A big-time, not too legal land speculator. Good old Iggy was in NC when the Battle of Alamance took place ( google it) and his brother James was killed on the field without trial by Gov. Tryon himself. this raised a protest even among Tories. ...so Tryon was eventually removed from NC....and given a bigger post...You know, if the British had had better HR people, we might be part of her Majesty's Realm ! These folk , I am told, are sometimes spelled Pugh....Yikes! I have Pugh everywhere! Anyway, Ignatius and his father William, and sibs, incl James's daughter, go to Columbia Co GA, where they begin to interact with my Littleton Riggins in Greene and Hancock Cos GA. Why do I bring this up? Well, hubby Jim and I are still in NH making believe we can still handle downhill skiing ( it's a stellar year for snow) and I don't have my files with me, just a netbook. soooo It seems that Hugh Cain is Ex of Ignatius Few/Pugh's will and I know that Francis of Timothy or somebody R..g..n has a female ( Olive I think) who marries into the Cains...would someone elucidate and help me out here. BTW, there folk are Quaker, and in Long CAne, and come from Chester Co PA, which all of a sudden is all over my data...yeesh ! fond wishes to you all, and Ragon...post away...M'ellen -----Original Message----- From: ragan-roots-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ragan-roots-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of L.
