    3. Mr. Reagan, And happy Forth of July to you. I continue to search for the parents of Eli Ragon 1766-1807 who lived and died in Ashe Co. North Carolina. He was my great-great-great grandfather. His son Absalom Ragon moved to Arkansas to join his son Eli Cleve Ragon my great grandfather. Any thoughts on the origins of Eli? All help appreciated. Reagan Sent: Sunday, July 04, 2010 10:12 AM To: RAGAN-ROOTS@rootsweb.com Cc: Rick Reagan; Marilyn Wetherington Subject: [RAGAN-ROOTS] Colonial Ancestors of Timothy Ragan,Revolutionary War soldier Dear Ragan/Reagan researcher(s), HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! The colonial ancestors of Timothy Ragan/Reagan who served in the Revolutionary War from the State of Maryland and lived in Pittsylvania County, VA and Caswell County, NC before the migration to Sevier County, TN in 1795 are Timothy Ragan, Sr. (grandfather) who married Mary Lary; and Timothy Ragan,Jr. (father) who married Rachel? Nelson. I have has researched these Ragan/Reagan and allied families in the State of Maryland and surrounding areas for contemporary records for almost twenty years since my last publication, THE BOOK OF RAGAN/REAGAN, was printed in 1993. It has been my personal dream to write up a new book on the colonial ancestors of Timothy Ragan, Revolutionary War soldier, from Anne Arundel County, Maryland. It will covers first three generations of Ragan/Reagan family during the colonial and revolutionary war periods. At this point, I am now working with other Ragan/Reagan researchers who have contacted me over the years on earliest Ragan/Reagan families during the colonial and revolutionary war periods. So, it is still 'work in progress', but now I do not yet know when to stop for the new book. Best wishes in your endeavour to learn about your forebears who have created and have built this great nation! Donald B. I first find your Eli in 1790 Rowan Co., NC enumeration 2-2-3. He has 2 males age <16 & a 2 males age >16. Apparently he had 2 sons age <16 and another age >16. Do you have information on his sons and wife? I am searching for the parents of Peter Reagon of Wilkes Co., NC. I believe Eli may be connected because of there close proximity. 3. Mr. Garrett, Eli Ragon (1766-1807) was married to Mary Stewart in about 1780. They had 9 children: Delilah b.1782, Sara b.1784, Mary (Polly) b.1786, Jacob b.1788, David b.1790, Daniel b.1792, Eli Jr. 1797, Absalom Newton b.1801 and Jacob William b.1807. All the children were born in N.C. Absalom Newton was my great, great grandfather. Many of the children moved on to Tennessee but Absalom and Eli Jr. went to Arkansas. How might Eli and Peter Reagon be connected? Thanks for your note. 3. Mrs Wilmuth thank you for the info re: Eli Ragon of 1790 Rowan & 1800 Ashe NC there is a James Regan & Peter Ragain in Rowan NC by 1784. James was b. 1748 md to Sarah Gilliam both possibly from Granville/Bute NC. His parents are unknown. Peter of Rowan appears in Rowan in 1774 with a Thomas Reagan enlisting in Rev War. The last I see of this Peter is in 1785 on Abbotts Creek. Also James "R" (mentioned above) b. 1748 and a later Joel "R" (b. 1760) lives on Abbotts Creek of Rowan. Your Eli appears in Rowan by 1790 along with James Reggins/Sarah Gilliam. Eli is a witness with a Mary Ragan in 1799 Wilkes NC for a C. Calderon. Peter Ragan received a land grant in Ashe NC in 1799 & 1802. This Peter (my ancestor) is the Peter Ragan b. abt 1745 who appears in Wilkes NC by 1779. I dont think he is the same Peter of Rowan. They both exist simutaneously, one in Rowan the other in Wilkes. 1800 Ashe is Eli Ragan and Charles Regans (s/o Peter of Wilkes) 1810 Ashe is C (Charles) Riggins s/o Peter of Wilkes M Ragans (who is he?) J (Jacob Reggens) s/o Eli P Regans not sure if this is Peter Jr s/o Peter Sr of Wilkes. Trying to identify the parents of Peter of Wilkes NC. I have a suspicion his father may be Charles Sr of Granville Bute NC Also the parentage of James "R md to Sarah Gilliam is unknown. Parents of Peter "R" of Rowan is unknown Do you know in where in Rowan & Ashe your Eli resided?
