Janette, Thank you so very much for your help! I would like to give some input on this cemetery. First I'm certain that the name should be spelled RAGAN and not RAGON. I say this because Jeremiah RAGAN was the son of my 3g-grandparents, William RAGAN and Mary LEEPER. He was a brother to Alexander RAGAN, buried at the Stone Church Cemetery. He also had another brother named Isaiah RAGAN (my 2g-grandfather) who is buried in Pope County at the Sulpher Springs Church Cemetery. I understand that you're working on an update to the Hardin Co. cemetery book. Please be sure that the RAGAN cemetery is mentioned. You can say that it no longer exists, but if at all possible, please mention that William RAGAN and Mary LEEPER/RAGAN are probably buried there also. William & Mary moved to Hardin Co. about 1856, coming from Guernsey Co., OH. They were there in the 1860/1870 census', and Mary is listed as a widow in the 1880 census. I feel certain that this was probably a family plot on their own land. It might also help to mention the known location (which the late Leonard H. Farmer found) of: S 1/2 SE 1/4 Sec. 30, T 12 S, R 8 E. The location you mention as Rose Clare Pct. does offer me some confusion though because in the census' my family was located in McFarlan Pct. Have some of the lines been changed? Or is it possible that their home was close to the line which separates the two precincts? Perhaps it was just listed incorrectly by the census takers. You also mention that this cemetery was probably on the property of Bernard Hurford. Is he still around? Does he have an email address or a phone? How could I contact him, or whoever now owns this land? Do you suppose that he would mind a couple of genealogists coming over and looking around? I would sure like to locate this cemetery. My cousin Danny & I may get a chance to get over there and do a little searching, if at all possible. And another question - Once this book is complete how can I buy a copy? Thanks again for all your help Janette. I *really* appreciate you! Michael W.
