8/4/1999 Ragan Roots Hi, I have been doing some more research and just thought I would share some of the updates that I have found in my family tree. Hopefully, some of this new information may bring to light a family connection that was not previously seen. Via another ragan geneology researcher (Judy Haddock Swain), I beleive that S D Ragan's full name was Solomon Dickson Ragan. If that is the case, which there is alot of circumstantial evidence supporting this theory. Then his parents would be Joseph Wesley Ragan b.1806 in NC. He married (29Aug1832) Rachel Turner in Dickson Co. TN. She was born in 1818 in TN. She was the daugher of William dillard Turner and Priscill a Ursula Thomas. An educated guess is that Joseph Wesley Ragan was the son of William Ragan b.1773 and Sitty ? b.1790 in VA. The rest of what I have is though my research. Solomon is assumed to be S D Ragan's first name. Dickson is the spelling chosed for the family traditon for his name Dixon or Dickson, either way sound the same. Solomon Dickson Ragan b.abt1848. m.abt1873 in Izard Co. Arkansas to Sallie Jane Roberts from KY. Sallie had two brothers John and Ed Roberts. They had the following children 1) Millie (Ragan) Moody 2) Dosh (Ragan) ? 3) William Joseph Ragan b.2Apr1874 in Izard Co. AR. d.27Jul1931 in Coweta, Wagoner Co. OK. buried in Shahan Cemetery. He was thought to live a time in MO. maybe Ozark or Texas Co. & then he moved on to Bixby, Ok. He married in Baxter Co. Arkansas to Margaret Elizabeth White from Gamialia, Baxter Co. Arkansas. More on thier nine children later. 4) Tom Ragan 5) Amanda Lou (Ragan/Ragon) Hughes. 'Mandy' was first married to ? Sing where they had two children. Raymond and Susan Sing. Via Henry Hughes they had a daughter Judy or Judeth Hughes. 'Amanda Lou Ragan'b.6Mar1892 in Evening Shade, AR. Sharp Co. In 24May1943 she applied for SS# 555/32/1337 while she lived in MountBella CA.
