Hello Cousins! Well Terry & I had a pretty busy day today. We had a wedding to photograph in Chattanooga so that took most of the day. We went to the studio this morning, loaded up our equipment and headed out. Kenny (our son) likes (?) to go with us to weddings (only because I give him 50 bucks ;-). He also wanted to go to the 'Riverbend Festival' they have in Chattanooga every year (today was the last day). His only problem was that he wasn't able to get back to Stevenson in time to take his girlfriend. Sooo... he drove Terry's car to the wedding, we went in the van, and he went to Riverbend after the wedding. Hollie (his girlfriend) rode up with her parents and met him there. Her parents were going anyway so everything worked out well. I'd like to go to the festival some day too. It sounds like they have a pretty nice event every year. This year they had Johnny Rivers there on one of the nights. Kenny said he recognized many of the songs he sung. That's probably because Kenny is subjected to the 'oldies' music whenever he's in the van with me ;-). I sure would've liked to see Johnny Rivers perform. I love his music. Well I finally got the latest GedCom exported from our database and you're all welcome to take a look at it. It now contains 30,698 people! Mostly RAGANs (all variations), but there are quite a few FINNEYs in it too (I moderate the FINNEY list too). In case you didn't know, my g-grandmother was Grace A. FINNEY and she married William H. RAGAN. You can find it at our cousin Bill REAGANs Web Site (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/billreagan/). If you're an AOL member you can find it in the Genealogy Forum (Keyword - roots). The file is called 'RAGAN.Zip' and it's about 1.3mb in size. It's in GedCom format (I mentioned that didn't I?) and it's been compressed with ZipIt (for the Mac). So if you want to take a look at our entire database you'll need to have a genealogy program to import the file (PC or Mac), plus you'll need to have either PKZip/UnZip (for the PC) or ZipIt (for the Mac). And ... you'll probably need about 14 or 15 spare megabytes of disk space to work with. Please let me know if you find any mistakes, anything that needs to added, deleted, changed ... etc. I want this baby to be as accurate as possible. Please remember that this thing isn't entirely my research. I did do some of it, but most of it has been submitted by others. It's yours, so enjoy it! Also please be understanding if your family information isn't in it yet. I receive some submissions in GedCom format (which can be imported directly into the database) and others come to me in text format which I have to either type or copy & paste into the database. The GedCom files get imported asap, but text files take much longer. And, of coursse, I've been know to lose a file or two from time to time. Not on purpose, but as most of you know I have had some hd problems over the past few months. I think the database is getting pretty interesting. There are quite a few interesting people in it (me included ;-). There are a few presidents: Ronald REAGAN (of course), James Knox POLK, Thomas JEFFERSON, George BUSH Royalty: Henry I (King of Englad) Edward III (King of Englad) William the Lion (King of Scotland) Robert of Caen (Earl of Chester) Other prominent people include: Willaim BRAUNCHE/BRANCH (Member Of Parlament In 1593) Gen. William CLARK (Lewis & Clark Expedition) Major Peter FIELD (Speaker of the House of Burgess) Gen. Thomas Johnathon "Stonewall" JACKSON Robert E. LEE (not sure if this is the General or not) John Henninger REAGAN (Postmaster General Of Confederate States of America) Christian TARR (Senator & Rep. In State Legislature From Fayette County, PA.) Michael W. RAGAN (RAGAN-ROOTS list moderator, FINNEY List moderator ;-) Plus many others too numerous to mention. Not all of these people are directly related to FINNEY/FINNIE/PHINNIE or RAGAN/REGAN/RAGON families. Some have simply married into someone's lineage, but they are there. So download the file and enjoy it y'all! Later Cousins, Michael W. RAGAN ============= List moderator ============= Q: What's the difference between men and government bonds?
