I'm sure that what Stephen means is genealogical software. I have Broderbund's Family Treemaker that I have used satisfactorily for 3 or 4 years. Problem is that Broderbund has "built-in obsolescence" and updates, it seems, about every six months, instead of less frequent but more significant updates. It's also among the more expensive. I've heard so many people wax eloquent about Family Origins that I wish I'd started out with that one. It's also the highest rated one by users of genealogical software. If I could get it to read my voluminous FTM files, I think I'd change . . . may anyhow since I can make gedcoms and have Family Origins read those . . . . I have it on paper, and it works for me, but as I am now talking to others on the Internet, I don't want to have to type all of the names and dates to each separate individual when I email them the family info they are looking for. Is it OK to solicit opinions from everyone on which program is the best one available? I am thinking of both ease of use and easy to read to determine who begat whom.
