Hello RAGAN-Rooters! Well it looks like I owe you an apology again. I meant to send a private email to my daughter tonight but I seem to have grabbed the wrong address and drug it into the "to" box. I meant to send it to my immediate family. Sorry. well if you read the other note you know that we're on our way back home and spending tonight near Roanoke, VA. The trip has been very nice. We met a lot of new cousins. No they weren't "RAGANs", but they are descendants of Nerissa RAGAN, a sister to my g-grandfather William Henry RAGAN. The reunion was a lot of fun. I ate too much, which is normal. Made quite a few photos. We stayed in the beautiful home (4500 sq ft) of my cousin Edna in PA. (The reunion was held in NY.) Edna showed me some proofs that should qualify me to become a member of "The Sons of the American Revolution". I really like that. Unfortunately the soldier wasn't a "RAGAN" (there were quite a few RAGAN/REAGAN soldiers in the revolution and I had hoped I could link to one of them since that's my surname). He was Samuel LEEPER, grandfather of my 3g-grandmother, Mary LEEPER. (Mary married William RAGAN.) Samuel LEEPER was an officer, so there's quite a bit of info on him. There was another officer in my line too (James CLARK who married into the LEEPER family), but he was another generation back so I'll concentrate on Samuel. So now I'll need to get an application for the SAR. I'm pretty excited about that. As we traveled around meeting new people this weekend I noticed Edna wearing her DAR sweatshirt. I thought that was cool ;-) She gave me extra copies of the proofs I'll need so I'll get to work on that project ASAP. We had a great time and saw some *beautiful* country. The mountains in Virginia and Pennsylvania were/are fantastic! I had no idea Pennsylvania was so mountainous. The northern part of the state really impressed us. Edna lives right in the moutains. We should be back home tomorrow and back to work on Tuesday. I need to get some sleep now so g'night y'all!
