Jean, My James Oscar Ragan is not the child of G.W. Ragan. I believe if G. W. Ragan had a son named James Oscar Ragan, his dates of birth and death are incorrect as printed in the book, Ragan and Ragans. My James Oscar Ragan was born 05-17-1865 and died 02-11-1898. He is buried in Wilder cemetery on the border of Grady and Thomas County along with 3 of his infant children. His wife was Bettie O. NeSmith b. 1869 d. May 21, 1953, they married in Decatur County, GA December 22, 1887. His parents were Joseph D. Ragan and Melvina Keaton married May 29, 1864, in Decatur Co., GA. They appear on the 1870 Mitchell Co.
