I have run into a dead-end and hope someone out there can help! I have traced my ancestors back to a Darby Reagan/Ragins/Ragan, however this is not confirmed. According to a death notice in the Spartanburg, SC newspaper, he was born in the County of Cork Ireland and immigrated to Georgia in 1764. He died in 1851 at 100 years of age. He had served in the Revolutionary War as well. No family was mentioned in the article. It did mention he lived in Newberry District before settling in Spartanburg. I believe he had a son, Benjamin, born in 1795 and married Sarah(Salley) Dangard, the daughter of Ralph Dangard. Benjamin died in 1864 in Cherokee County, AL. A lineage chart in the SC Lineages was found, that traced him back through his son, James. It also said he was born in Cork, Ireland and was a Rev. War soldier. But when reviewing the Pension Files, it states that Darby Reagan was born in 1756 in Columbia Co., GA and lived there at enlistment until 4-5 years after the war. He then moved to Newberry Dist., SC and in 1814 moved to Spartanburg, SC. In 1831 he moved to Monroe Co., TN, where he applied on March 20, 1834, at age 77. In May 1841, he moved to Greenville Dist to be near children(not named). My lineage thru Darby is as follows: Darby Ragan b. abt 1750, d. 1851 in SC Benjamin Ragan b. 1795, d. 1864 in AL Willis Ragan b. abt 1818, d. ?(last found in 1880 TN Census) Alberry Clark Ragan b. 1855 in AL, d. Jan 1974 in Dickson Cty, TN Loyde Ray Ragan b. 6-5-33 Rachel Ragan b. 12-5-58, Franklin, TN Some children of Benjamin(not confirmed) are: Willis b. abt 1818 Rebecca John Riley Nathaniel George W. Sarah b. abt 1829, SC James Clark b. abt 1836 in TN Arthur b. abt 1838 in TN The 3 younger children were listed with Benjamin Ragan in the 1850 Census of Cherokee County, AL. I apologize for such a long note, but I am not sure how much information is needed when sending an inquiry to your Ragan site. I want to say Thank You very much for being out there!! God Bless You! Your new cousin, Rachel
