Marriage record did not list witness or parents. However, John Ragan witnessed the marriage of Nancy Ragan to Edmund Guthrie 3 years previous 24 Jan 1809. There were several other marriages in Caroline Co. up until 1835. John does not witness. John and William were listed alphabetically, ages consistent with father and son on the 1820 census. William appears on the 1930 census, John does not. A John Ragan fr Caroline Co received 2 financial warrants for militia svc. 31 July 1783. Williqm migrated with some of his family to Anderson Co., Ky. ca 1836. WHO WAS THIS JOHN RAGAN? WHO WERE HIS SIBLINGS AND CHILDREN? WHO WAS HIS WIFE? Could he have had family in adjacent counties: Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Essex, King William, Hanover? Caroline Co., Va. is a burned county and records are scarce.
