    1. [RAGAN-ROOTS-L] Regans of Drinagh West, Co. Cork
    2. I am looking for relatives of William Regan (or O'Regan) of Drinagh West, Co. Cork. He was my great-great-grandfather. His daughter Bridget (b. ca. 1842) married my great-grandfather John Connolly on 23 February 1865, in the church at Drinagh West (which no longer exists, save for the tower), and they had ten children (who were baptised in Leap rather than Drinagh). According to Griffith's Valuation, William Regan was major occupier in Drinagh West, leasing 134 acres from Immediate Lessor Richard Henry Decie (this amounted to half the townland). Denis Regan and Patrick Regan also held property in the same townland. The cemetery in Drinagh West (surrounding the lost church) includes a tombstone for Daniel Regan (b. ca. 1875), who served in the Royal Navy as chief gunner for the H.M.S. Dreadnought. There is an adjoining tombstone for a William O'Regan, who would have been born in 1865/66 (probably both of these are too young to be my great-grandmother's brothers). According to his tombstone, Daniel was married to Mary (no surname given) and lived in Leap. Does anyone have any information on this line? Sheila Connolly
