I have hit a brick wall with my GGG grandmother Fredonia Elizabeth RIGGAN and her husband Sam TRIPP/TRIPPE (my GGG grandfather). I know nothing of Sam Tripp's ancestors or of Sam TRIPP/TRIPPE. Fredonia has a twelve year gap 1858-1870 that I need to find out where she was and what happened to her so I can unearth some information about Sam and also to find out more about Fredonia. Fredonia Elizabeth Riggan was born in 1845 to Samuel H. RIGGAN and Martha TARVER in Wilson County, TN. In 1858 after both of her parents died, Fredonia was made a ward of Marion KITTRELL of Wilson County, TN. Fredonia does not appear on the 1860 census in TN but reappears as a widown in 1870 in Wilson County, TN under the name of F.E. TRIPPE with two children (Henrietta born in 1862 and death date is unknown and Tilmon/Tilman Valrus Trippe born in 1866 and died in 1947 (my GG grandfather). Fredonia died in 1886 where her toombstone indicates she was the wife of S. Tripp and she is buried in the Leeville cemetary in Wilson County, TX. The census records indicate different birth places for Fredonia's two children over the years. Some census records say TN, some say TX, some say ARK. Family rumor was that these children were born in ARK and my GG grandfather's death certificate says he was born in ARK and his father's name was Sam Tripp. However, Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Records in Wilson County, TN state these children were born in Texas. I can't find Fredonia, Sam Tripp, or any of the children in Texas, Arkansas or Tennessee records from 1858-1870. The Tripp name is sometimes spelled Trippe.
