    3. Alicia, Hi again! I lost myself in your discription of your Ragan ancestors lives. My family also lived on farms, grew their own food, be it cattle or vegetables. My mothers family owned a dairy. Until my mother couldn't get it any longer, she ate the cream off the top of 'raw milk', and grew up making cheese, butter, etc. I am 58 and have been totally addicted to butter my entire life. Once, when my grandmother and mother were churning butter (to sell) on a very hot Arkansas day, and stopped for a break on the porch swing...I stole a one pound, glass mold of freshly made butter from the 'ice box'. I hid behind the chichen coop and ate the WHOLE thing. My Mom was going to kill me, but Grandma said "Leave her be...a tummy ache is all the punishment she needs." I never did get sick!! Ha! My grandparents lived into their late 80's, my mother to 85, and my great grandmother to 91......and she was straight as a stick, did her own housework, shopping, etc., until she died of Cancer! I have SO enjoyed everyones stories!! Bren
