John Wood I is the second husb. of James Regan's widow, Joan. She is his second wife of 3. In 1705, John I deeds 400 acres of land in Stafford Co VA to his three oldest children and 200 acres to his step daughter MAry Regan Durham. Why her and not her 5 sibs...who knows... The girls are all married and thus could be any age, but son John Wood Jr must be 21 and thus born before 1684. (NOK for John I is Edward Williams a son in law, and Jeane Wood ( Jane) who later marries James MAnkin.)   From these two court filing matters we see that John I was on his third wife by 1709, so MAry XXX Regan Wood is dead.  He list five younger children to receive the remaining 1800+ acres of land in Stafford VA.  Margaret ( Philpot) and HER HEIRS get a lousey 50 acres in Charles Co MD.  It takes until 1716 to file.Either John did not die until then, or it took till then for youngest to come of age. If the 5 young children listed are not Margarets heirs, whose heirs are they...I think Joan's. We'll it on that later. John Jr has died before his father. John Jr has a son John, listed as NOK. We later see:  1738-1740 Prince William Co VA Deed D; Pages 136-141. May 25, 1739. John Wood of Parish of Port Tobacco in Charles Co., Maryland, Yeoman to Ralph Falkner of same, Gent .... for 50 lbs. gold .... 800 a. called Walker Town in Parish of Hamilton .... being part of a patent for 2,960 gr. to Henry Walker and afterwards renew'd. by John Wood grandfather to the aforesd. John Wood on March 13, 1695 ... 400 a. being conveyed from John Wood grandfather unto John Wood the father of aforesd. John Wood yeoman by deed of gift dated Dec. 11, 1705 recorded in Stafford Ct. 10 April 1706 .... the other moiety of 800 a. being remainder of all the lands in the patent ... deeds of lease and release. John Wood Wits: Geo. Brent, Chas Ewell, Thos. Robinson, Hugh Adie. Rec'd. of Ralph Falkner sum of 50 Ibs. At Court May 28, 1739 John Wood Acknowledged this release with the receit endorsed. So, by this we see that there was indeed a John Wood III, with a mom Elizabeth, and he is selling out in 1739.   meanwhile, the John Wood I will in 1716 above was witnessed by John Ragon. We next hear of this John:   John Reagon 13.476 CH £82.10.6 Dec 11 1728 Feb 26 1728 Appraisers: Thomas Sanders, John Craxson. Creditors: William Griffith, Daniel McDaniel. Next of kin: James Rose, Peter Fernandie. Administratrix/Executrix: Elisabeth Reagon. === John Reagon 10.244 A CH £82.10.3 £91.16.4 Apr 6 1730 Sureties: Stephen Mankin, James Mankin. Payments to: John Howinson, John Smith, Dr. John Chalmers, William Griffen, Elisabeth Sennett, Barnaby Kelley, Samuel Ranson, Alee Mathews, John Suttly, James Mankin, Daniel McDaniel, Edward Brawner. Distribution to: accountant, children (unnamed, minors). Administratrix: Elisabeth Carroll, wife of James Carroll.   Okay, John Rgn, son of James and Joan has died in 1728, leaving unnamed minors. The James and Ann Rose/Ross appear to be either Ann Wood Ross/Rose, or Ann Rgn Ross/Rose . More on them later. Please note the Mc Daniel name, and note that the Admin has gone from Elizabeth Rgn to Eliz Carrol.    Then we go back to another John Wood...this is John Wood III:   John Wood 24.476 CH £25.10.0 Apr 16 1740 Appraisers: Matthew Stone, M. Banes. Creditors: Daniel Wright, James Ross. Next of kin: Matthew Reagon, Anne Ross. Administratrix: Elisabeth Carroll, wife of James Carroll. === John Wood 18.129 A CH £35.10,0 £33.8.11 Feb 21 1740 Sureties: Richard Chapman, James Mankin. Payments to: Anne Ross, Dr. Brown, James Glascock, James Ross, Richard Chapman, Daniel Wright, George Flanakin, John Stephenson, Matthew Barnes, Daniel Dulany, Esq., Samuel Hanson, Walter Hanson. Representatives: mother, 2 half-sisters (unnamed), 2 half-brothers (unnamed). Administrators: James Carrol and his wife Elisabeth Carrol (mother of deceased)   So John Wood III names as NOK ( Next of kin) Mathew Reagon and this same Ann Ross. The same Elizabeth and James Carrol admin the estate, and she is id'd as his mother. Along with Mom are 4 half sibs of John Wood III. Eliz has no kids with Carrol, thus I conclude they are Rgn folk. I also conclude Eliz. XXX Wood  was also the widow of John Rgn SR, in addition to John Wood Jr. As to her maiden name...the Peter Fernandie listed as NOK of John Rgn had a daughter Elizabeth of the correct age. That is a possibility. This is what I can find on Fernandie:   On the second Tuesday in April, 1669, Pedro Fernandez, servant of Capt. James Neale, deposed that he was 17 years of age. (Charles County Court & Land Records, D#1:62) On September 14, 1686, Peter Fernandis (cooper) gave a mare to Edward Brawner (the 3 year old son of Henry Brawner). And Henry Brawner gave a cow to Elizabeth Fernandis, young daughter of Peter Fernandis. (Charles County Court & Land Records M1:194) I wonder what this was about? Were Peter Fernandis and Henry Brawner making a marriage agreement concerning their young children? I do not know who Edward Brawner married, but he did marry in about 1702. The May-June 1676 Maryland Assembly paid Peter Fernando 2000 pounds of tobacco (the purpose for the payment was not recorded). The October 23, 1683, Maryland Assembly paid Peter Fernandis 3000 pounds of tobacco for maintenance--he was wounded at Susquehanock Fort and much disabled by his wounds. This support was continued in future years at 2000 pounds per year. On October 15, 1694, the Maryland Assembly granted citizenship to Peter Ferdinando and his daughters. I  know we have a Neale Rgn...anyone?  One more bit: John Glashon 14.500 A CH £107.18.8 £123.11.2 Dec 19 1737 Sureties: John Reagon, David McDaniel. Payments to: Prudence Sanders (administratrix of Charles Sanders), John Howison, John Howard, Thomas Brooke & William Holland, Esq., Samuel Hanson. Distribution to: widow (unnamed), 4 children (unnamed). Administratrix: Eleanor Hunter (late Eleanor Glashon).   Okay, we have seen Glashon before...too tired for where...Just put this in to point out that there is still a John Rgn in Charles Co MD. Odds are he belongs to John and Elizabeth ans is one of the four half sibs at John Wood III's death. M'ellen ( James...my appologies...I was dumbly including John Rgn the father of the unnamed minors as one of his own kids...so yes, there is at least 4. ( no one says they all had to be there. ===
